A battered figure scrambled, darting and leaping to evade.
Fueled by the chakra of the tailed beast inside him, Utakata's strength and speed soared, allowing him to narrowly dodge the relentless Water Dragon Bullets coming his way.
Yet at only nineteen, his current mastery over his tailed beast's power was still far from what he would achieve in the years to come.
Surrounded by elite ninjas from the Kirigakure, he was inevitably forced into a tight corner.
In a split second, a Water Dragon slammed into him, sending him flying.
"Ahhh..." Utakata was hit hard and his face contorted with pain.
Gritting his teeth, he struggled to rise. If it weren't for his tail partially shielding him from the blow, he would have suffered far worse injuries.
"Utakata, there's nowhere left for you to run. Surrender." Ao's right eye bulged, veins pulsing as his Byakugan locked onto the Six-Tails Jinchuriki, his voice thundering across the battlefield.
"Unless you plan to take my corpse with you."
Steadying himself, Utakata's eyes burned with determination. Calmly, he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. His body began to emit a vast amount of dark-red, bubbling chakra.
"Not good." Ao's face changed. "Everyone, fall back."
But it was too late.
In an instant, Utakata entered a partial transformation, several tails sprouting from his back.
Encased in a cloak of dark-red chakra, he was now unrecognizable, resembling a true beast.
With blinding speed, he lunged at the closest Mist shinobi.
Like a ghost, his terrifying claws tore through the shinobi's chest.
The Mist shinobi's eyes widened in shock as he coughed up blood, life slipping away.
Yet Utakata didn't stop. He charged at another shinobi with ferocity.
"What a troublesome guy."
Witnessing this scene, Mei's expression hardened. Unable to remain a passive observer, she began forming hand seals with rapid precision, her red lips parting as she exhaled.
"Water Style: Water Wall."
With a rush, a massive pillar of water erupted, forming a solid barrier between Utakata and the retreating Mist shinobi, giving them a brief respite.
"Water Style: Water Whip Jutsu."
In rapid succession, several Mist shinobis formed hand seals, creating whip-like streams of water that wrapped around Utakata's partially transformed body.
"Lightning Style: Earth Flash."
In the next moment, numerous shinobis cast their jutsu. Electricity crackled along the ground and through the water whips, attacking Utakata, who struggled against his binds.
Utakata howled, surging with overwhelming energy, shattering the water whips holding him down.
His tails whipped around as he, now encased in dark-red chakra, was unharmed. With sharp claws extended, he rushed fiercely toward Mei.
"Oh my, what a violent man." Mei's expression remained calm as she swiftly formed hand seals, her red lips opening to release a jutsu.
"Lava Style: Lava Monster Jutsu." She unleashed a terrifying stream of corrosive liquid toward the half-transformed Utakata.
"Whoosh..."
Alarm shot through him. Utakata dodged quickly, yet some of the corrosive liquid grazed his arm.
His chakra cloak dissolved on contact, and even his skin began to corrode, exposing bone beneath.
The sight was chilling.
"Roar—."
Angered beyond reason, the half-transformed Utakata roared furiously. He retaliated by spitting a cloud of corrosive acid toward Mei, who swiftly dodged it.
"Lady Mei, the Six-Tails' abilities are very similar to your Boil Release and Lava Release. Be cautious." Ao called out, reminding her of the potential danger.
Mei's gaze sharpened. Known for her beauty and formidable strength, she was the only one in Kirigakure to possess both the Boil Release and Lava Release through her unique chakra nature transformations.
"Roar…."
Utakata, now completely lost in rage, extended one fearsome chakra tail after another, thrusting them at Mei like spears.
"I know." Mei's face tensed as she kept dodging, but she was a step too slow. One of the massive chakra tails skewered her body.
"Lady Mei." The Mist shinobi's faces filled with horror.
Yet, almost immediately, Mei's form melted into water, splashing to the ground.
In a flash, she reappeared several meters away, emerging from a puddle left over from the battle.
"Oh my, such a rough man. You're really angry, aren't you?" Mei said, her gaze narrowing.
She quickly formed seals again, focusing on Utakata. Opening her mouth, she unleashed another attack.
"Whoosh... Whoosh..."
A rapid stream of corrosive liquid bullets shot from her mouth, morphing into water droplets as sharp and fast as bullets, tearing through the air toward Utakata.
"Bang! Bang!"
Utakata darted back and forth, dodging while the ground around him was corroded, leaving crater-like holes.
His massive chakra tails lashed out, blocking the incoming acidic projectiles. However, the fierce attacks left his tails pitted and scarred.
Yet he retaliated without hesitation, unleashing a barrage of corrosive acid, forcing Mei and the other Mist shinobis to dodge.
"Boom! Boom!"
The ground and trees around them were corroded, creating a horrifying scene.
"Whoosh..."
In a flash, Utakata charged at Mei, his body covered in corrosive acid seeping from the chakra cloak around him, making him appear even more deadly.
Mei attempted to dodge but was caught off guard, a fierce attack shredding her body—only for it to dissolve into a pool of water.
"Whoosh..."
In an instant, Mei appeared behind Utakata, rapidly forming hand seals, water-style chakra accumulating in her throat as she unleashed her next jutsu with blinding speed.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu."
"Roar..."
A massive water dragon roared to life, surging toward the nearby Utakata, who had little time to react.
"Boom! Boom!"
At the last second, Utakata crossed his massive tails in front of him, absorbing most of the impact from the Water Dragon.
Still, he was flung backward, crashing through several giant trees, dust rising from the wreckage.
"That should have dealt with him." Mei thought, assessing that with the protective layer of tailed beast chakra, Utakata likely wasn't gravely injured. She prepared to press the advantage.
"Wait, Mei-sama." Ao's voice cut in, his Byakugan revealing something alarming. "Lady Tsunade from Konoha is approaching us fast."
"What?" Mei froze, her momentum halting mid-step.
"Roar—"
Just then, Utakata, who had been blasted away, roared in rage. A terrifying surge of chakra gathered in his mouth, forming a black and red ball roughly the size of a human head.
"That's a Tailed Beast Bomb."
Thanks to his Byakugan's insight, Ao instantly recognized the impending danger.
"Everyone, get out of the way."
"Whoosh—"
A shrill whistling filled the air as the small, yet deadly Tailed Beast Bomb hurtled toward Mei and the Mist shinobis, their faces contorting in alarm.
"Boom! Boom!"
