The sight of the Six-Tails focusing its energy to form a Tailed Beast Bomb sent a chill through the Kirigakure shinobis watching.
Faces paled with horror as they recognized the immense destructive power they couldn't hope to counter.
After a futile attempt to halt it with ninjutsu, they scattered in all directions without hesitation.
The Six-Tails swallowed the Tailed Beast Bomb, locking its fierce gaze on Mei, whom it saw as a threat, and redirected its attack.
"Whoosh—"
Suddenly, a high-pitched, whistling sound cut through the air as the black chakra orb shot from the Six-Tails' mouth with blinding speed.
Mei's skin prickled with a sharp sense of danger, and her expression changed as the attack sped towards her like lightning.
"Ah?"
"Oh no, that direction—."
"It's heading towards the village."
At the same time, Tsunade, Shizune, and Karin's faces turned pale. If Mei dodged, the Tailed Beast Bomb would strike the village nearby, a force powerful enough to annihilate it in an instant.
In that split second—
Just as Mei was about to use the Body Flicker Technique to evade, a figure appeared before her. Her eyes widened.
"Is that the … young man with Lady Tsunade?" she murmured, stunned.
She recognized him, the good-looking young man who had quietly drawn her attention despite saying little.
He seemed to have an air of mystery that made him impossible to read, even with her companion Ao's Byakugan.
"Is he crazy?" Ao exclaimed, shocked as he watched the mysterious youth step forward.
"Be careful." Mei's face changed with worry.
Ready to dodge, she instinctively stopped and quickly formed hand seals, trying to summon a defense against the incoming Tailed Beast Bomb.
"A Tailed Beast Bomb, huh?" Kiyoshi murmured.
With an unchanging expression, he raised his left hand to form a seal in front of him while extending his right hand toward the bomb hurtling forward.
"Flying Thunder God: Guiding Thunder."
Instantly, a complex network of seals spread out from his palm, glowing in the air as the Tailed Beast Bomb made contact.
In the stunned eyes of Mei and Ao, the enormous chakra sphere slowly sank into the mysterious spatial array Kiyoshi had summoned.
"Boom!"
An ear-splitting explosion erupted from the distant horizon, lighting up the sky. Shocked, the onlookers gaped at the dazzling burst of energy.
"If a beauty like you got hurt by something like that, my heart would ache," Kiyoshi said, as though the massive feat was nothing at all. He turned and flashed a charming smile at Mei.
"What a man…." Mei muttered, caught off guard, staring blankly at the youth before her.
After a moment, she regained her composure and smiled, her eyes bright.
"Thank you... My name is Mei Terumi. What's yours?"
"Ishikawa Kiyoshi," he replied, meeting her gaze with a confident grin. Then, with a subtle lift of his mouth, he added, "Though I could also be your future husband."
Mei's expression froze for a moment.
"Oh my, you want to be my husband?" she chuckled, amusement dancing in her eyes as she looked at the bold young man. "A guy like you would be quite a catch."
"Humph..." Karin, standing nearby, couldn't help but fume, clenching her teeth as she muttered, "That show-off."
Tsunade, observing the scene, twitched her mouth in slight exasperation. Kiyoshi was brilliant, but his shameless flirtation—especially in front of them—was something else.
"I never thought Kiyoshi could master the Flying Thunder God to this level." Shizune murmured in awe, clutching her pet pig, Tonton.
Her gaze shifted toward the blazing explosion still filling the sky. "He shifted that Tailed Beast Bomb instantly. Truly incredible..."
It was clear that if Kiyoshi hadn't acted in time, the blast would have devastated the nearby village and left nothing but ruins and countless casualties in its wake.
"Roarrr—"
Seeing its attack thwarted, the Six-Tails erupted in fury, its enormous tail thrashing wildly. The ground cracked and shattered from the impact, debris scattering everywhere.
"Whoosh..."
The beast opened its mouth, unleashing a deadly torrent of acidic liquid straight at Kiyoshi and Mei.
"Watch out."
Kiyoshi reacted swiftly, wrapping an arm around Mei and lifting her into a secure hold. In one smooth motion, he leaped out of the acid's path, narrowly dodging the attack.
The ground sizzled as the acid splattered, corroding it until it was unrecognizable.
"....."
Mei was stunned, looking up at Kiyoshi, who had effortlessly shielded her from the Six-Tails' assault.
His calm demeanor and ability to deflect the Tailed Beast Bomb with ease left her breathless.
Moreover, the way he was holding her—in a princess carry—made her cheeks flush ever so slightly.
"Thank you, Kiyoshi," she whispered, feeling her heart pound.
Kiyoshi gently set her down, smiling as he did. He knew that even if he hadn't stepped in, Mei would have likely survived, albeit a bit worse for wear.
As the future Fifth Mizukage, she wouldn't go down that easily. However, his intervention had protected the distant village from destruction as well.
Heroic rescues might seem cliched, but for someone like Mei—strong on the outside yet yearning for a fairytale love—it worked wonders.
Especially considering she was a bit of a sucker for good looks, something Kiyoshi had noticed from the beginning. Her eyes had been on him multiple times already.
As it turned out, his instincts had been spot on.
