Hearing Quill's words, everyone exchanged bewildered glances.
During the battle with the monster just now, no one had been thinking about the energy battery. Alan had noticed it, but he couldn't remind them, so he could only shake his head.
The others had even less idea where the energy battery was. Just then, High Priestess Ayesha contacted them through the ship.
"Members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm pleased to see you've completed the commission. We will now send people to retrieve the energy battery. I hope you will cooperate."
After Ayesha finished speaking, the ship's communication link returned to normal.
Quill thought to himself, "How am I supposed to give you the energy battery when I don't even know where it is?"
As he mulled it over, he looked at Alan, who simply shrugged, signaling that he had no idea either. At that moment, Rocket Raccoon glanced at everyone's confused expressions and couldn't help but chuckle softly.
Something this valuable—there was no way he'd hand it over so easily. As a bounty hunter, this had always been his way.
A golden spaceship emerged from the dim horizon, and everyone looked up. This was the ship Ayesha had sent. When it landed, several Sovereign people, clad head to toe in golden robes, stepped out. Not only were their clothes golden, but even their skin gleamed with the same hue.
Alan, encountering such an unusual race for the first time, was momentarily intrigued. However, the novelty wore off quickly as the Sovereign made their demand.
"Hand over the energy battery."
The group exchanged uncertain glances—no one had any intention of handing it over. Seeing their hesitation, the Sovereign warriors tensed up.
Without retrieving the energy battery, they would not allow the Guardians, including Alan, to leave.
"Hand over the energy battery."
They repeated their demand, this time raising their weapons and aiming them at the group.
At that moment, the hot-headed Drax charged forward, launching a Sovereign warrior into the air with a powerful kick before tackling another enemy.
Rocket Raccoon burst into laughter—the more chaotic the scene, the more excited he got.
"Drax, I'll help you!"
Rocket Raccoon screeched, lifting his gun and charging into the fray. Within moments, both sides were engaged in a full-on firefight. The once peaceful platform erupted into chaos once again.
Quill stood to the side, watching helplessly, his face turning blue with frustration.
"These two never think about the consequences! Fighting the Sovereign on their own planet? That's basically suicide!"
"Can't you guys just use your brains for once?" Quill groaned, starting up the ship.
The deafening roar of the engines filled the air, the sound waves echoing into the sky. As the ship powered up, he began running towards it, shouting, "Get on! We're leaving!"
Everyone sprinted toward the ship. Alan pulled Drax and Rocket Raccoon back just as they were being bombarded by enemy fire. The two of them leaped onto the ship just in time.
But thenclink!
Something cylindrical fell from Rocket Raccoon's pocket, bouncing twice on the ground before rolling to a stop at Quill's feet.
It was the energy battery.
"Rocket! What the hell is this?!"
Quill practically jumped in anger. So this was why the Sovereign were so furious—Rocket had stolen the energy battery!
Hiding behind Groot, Rocket Raccoon had an expression of absolute nonchalance.
"What's the big deal? We killed the monster, so taking the energy battery is totally fair."
