Luke did not even bother turning around to meet Chase's absurd facial expression.
"They found it, the gods have condemned me..."
His professor said, with somber dread filling his voice.
"Um, sir?"
Chase asked.
He truly did not know what to think of the transition of scenes before him, not only was he intrigued by Leander's sudden reaction, but Professor Luke's strange behavior was also quite the entertaining spectacle.
Luke turned his head toward him, tears brimming on the corners of his saddened eyes.
"You... You are with them!"
He yelled, his voice echoing through the halls.
Chase wanted to burst out laughing, and would have if not for his dust stained clothing.
"I am not with the gods sir, I can explain everything."
He responded nervously.
Luke stood, wiping his eyes.
"No no, I understand."
He said, turning toward the small cabinet in the back of his room.
His footsteps on the wooden floorboards resounded throughout the quiet classroom.
Chase was going to speak up until he realized that Luke was reaching for something inside of his cabinet.
Still with his back turned toward him, his Professor froze blocking whatever he was holding.
"You have it..."
Then he did something that no academy teacher was probably ever supposed to do.
He charged Chase, reaching above his head with a great sword twice the size of his body.
'Um.'
Chase threw himself into an awkward roll, collecting even more dust on his body.
With a ring, the sword slammed into the interior doorknob, completely ripping it off.
"I'll kill you for this!"
He yelled.
If there was a reasonable thing for him to do, Chase truly did not know of it.
He reached for the handle of his sword, and drew the cobalt blade.
"Okay! I admit it, I have one of your used cigarettes!"
He frantically pleaded. Throwing his once hopeful blackmail scheme out of his pocket, and onto the ground in front of him.
"I don't want to fight you..."
Chase said, cautiously entering his combat stance.
"I want to fight you!"
Luke yelled, rage seething from his eyes.
"Why?"
Chase responded, utterly confused.
"You have my shard!"
"No I don't"
Just at that very moment, two students walked into the classroom.
Both Poppy and Neveah were standing in the doorway, with looks of true confusion that would have been quite amusing if it weren't for the fact that Luke had already began to charge at Chase.
Instinctively, he lifted his blade up to meet the great sword.
Which now that he thought about it, he realized that it wasn't the smartest idea to try to directly counter a sword three times the size of his.
CLANG!
A terrible tremble resonated through Chase's hands. It took just about all of his willpower to not drop Hero's Fang.
"Son of a-"
His yell was cut off by a lightning bolt that zapped across the room, crashing into Professor Luke like a cannonball.
Equan had jumped in front of Poppy and Neveah and had one of his arms outstretched toward their Social Society teacher.
Luke crashed into one of the bookshelves, and his sword had flung halfway across the room and directly into one of the windows.
A loud shatter drowned out the sounds of the groaning professor.
Equan's arms were sparking with currents of visible electricity, but his face showed immediate regret at the fact that he could have killed the delusional teacher.
Putting his hands up defensively, he yelped.
"Sorry! I thought you were a monster..."
He mumbled quietly.
Chase sat down on the wooden floor, and just took a second to process his thoughts.
'I don't think I am ever showing up to morning classes again...'
Neveah walked over to Luke, and helped him stand.
His hair had been frizzled up into an afro, and his eyes had gone so wide that they could have been mistaken for essence orbs.
The next person to walk in was a yawning Neo, who took one look at the dust filled classroom with several shattered objects laying across the ground.
And then he turned around and walked away, as any sane person would have.
It was seven in the morning after all.
Luke stood up, and walked over to his desk.
Sitting down on his chair, he looked around at the group of students who had shown up early.
"Test is cancelled, clean up the mess and then we will just have a trivia or something."
Equan turned around and pumped his fist like an idiot, Neveah let out a grateful sigh, and Poppy just stood there with a dumbfounded expression on her face.
Chase looked down at his numb hands, and tried to squeeze them.
Sure enough it was damn near impossible to even make a fist. For all he knew his professor could have broken his hands with one swing of his blade.
Luke looked over at him, showing some guilt on his face.
"You really don't have my shard?"
Chase palmed his face, immediately regretting the action considering the sharp pain that shot through his hand.
"No, I don't have your shard..."
He said flatly, not even knowing what the hell this so called shard was.
"Ah, well you will serve an after school detention for, well all of this."
He took a deep breath, and looked at Equan next.
"You obviously don't need me to tell you, that you have one too?"
Equan shrugged in response, not seeming to care much about it.
"Neveah, I already know of your disruption of the dust monsters this morning..."
She looked down at the ground, and her face turned a bright shade of pink.
"Sorry sir, I was just trying to get a book from the library..."
Luke looked at her, rolling his eyes.
"You could have just waited until the sun came up?"
The poor girl looked like she was going to burst into tears.
"Well, I'm banned from the library..."
Luke mumbled something about quitting his job, and then of course gave her a detention.
Then explained how Chase would serve his at the end of today, while Equan and Neveah would serve theirs the next day. Mainly because he didn't want Chase in the same detention room as Equan for obvious reasons.
Then the four of them spent their morning sweeping up glass and dust, which gained some snickering from the rest of the students who arrived later that morning.
