Dinner ended soon after and everyone said their goodbyes. Sir Alan and the others returned to their various homes while the rest of the family retired to their rooms.
I escorted Phoebe gently to my suite. She was visibly relaxed and I could tell that she was happy.
When we entered, I wasted no time to pull off my clothes for a shower. As the water ran through my body, I thought of everything we had gone through.
The guilt, the betrayal, the sacrifice, the rumors from the men in the pack lands, Phoebe's breakdown and of course the impending unknown.
I lost track of time of how long I stayed under the water. Desperately wishing the water could wash away my pain and worries as it ran through my body.
After what felt like an eternity, I finally got out of the shower, stepping into the room. I caught sight of Phoebe sprawled in bed, sleeping already.
I smiled as I saw her gentle features, her face as delicate as a flower. Her face showed how peaceful her sleep must be.
