Agatha pulled Avery towards the market, her earlier anger gone from her mind replaced by raw unbridled excitement. She darted from stall to stall stopping at every little thing that caught her eye.
Avery had to run to keep up with her. She was supposed to be protecting her, that would not be possible if she ran off.
Coming up to a young merchant who had his goods laid out on a blanket, Agatha finally slowed down too look at the wares. A bunch jewelry and ornaments were laid out. Agatha picked up what looked like a bracelet but was slightly too large.
" You have a good eye seniorita," the merchant spoke cooly," that armlet is imbued with a protective magic."
His small hands took the armlet from Agatha and he inspected it his eyes finding their way to Agatha once more. He held out his hand and Agatha deliclately gave him hers. He slowly slid the armlet up. The armlet gave off a gentle blue glow as it came into position.
" Perfect fit for the water mage." The merchant who might have been a child said.
Agatha paid for the armlet and began looking at the various broaches on display. The merchant gave an explanation of each item while keeping up the alluring act. Agatha was completely enamored.
As she moved to pick one up from the back her clothes moved to give a peek of the frostia broach in her pocket.
"Avery!" Agatha called over her shoulder," which one should I pick? Help me decide."
Avery reached out from behind Agatha and held the two options in her hands.
" The amethyst goes well with your eyes but will contrast with the whole blue theme you've got going. The silver sapphire broach looks better. " Avery gave her honest opinion.
Agatha thought about it for a few moments then choose to follow Avery's advice and paid for blue one.
They wandered the streets together looking at everything that caught Agatha's eye, nothing as as impressive as the armlet but Agatha still made several purchases.
After shopping for several hours it was now lunch time and they were both hungry. Agatha dragged Avery to a nice smelling food stall selling some seafood on a stick coated in a hard spicy tangy shell. Neither of them knew what it was called but it was cheap and delicious. Avery made good use of the meal allowance provided for these exact situations. They then went on to try some buns filled with the crunchy hard shell of some animal which neither of them were a fan of. A tangy soup, a cold sweet frozen desert and a savoury cream filling between two layers of thin sweet waffles followed.
Agatha, content with the food and having had har fair share of retail therapy decided to go home and take a break before coming back for round two.
This aligned well with Avery as her shift was just about to end.
Once the guard who was supposed to take over for Avery arrived, Avery made her way back to the harvest market.
