Chapter 2 - Change of Plans

In another part of The Valley..a human girl with blonde hair tied in a ponytail,

and wearing barbarian-like armor, and a scar over her cheek was locked in a fierce sword duel.

Her opponent was a fearsome looking Toad with a glowing yellow eye,

one damaged eye with a red scar over it, and a thick beard around his massive jaw.

((*KLANK!, RKKK!, KLAK!*))

As the girl locked blades with the toad man, he grinned maliciously.

In doing so, he showed a mouth full of raze sharp teeth that could easily bite the girl's head off.

The girl quickly performed a headbutt, stunning the toad.

She then performed a sweep kick...but, the Toad evaded with a high leap.

The Toad Man dropped down behind the girl, and shot out his long tongue at her.

The spikey end of the sticky tongue snagged her sword away, followed by a forward lunge.

The Toad held the duel sword in a 'X' formation right at the girl's neck.

she froze...and, then smirked.

"good one, grimesy." said the girl. "I actually didn't see that one coming."

Grime grinned as he handed the human girl's sword back to her. "You performed admirably as well, Sasha."

Sasha grinned. "So, are we finally ready to restore the Toad Army, and take our REVENGE against those stupid frogs?"

"In time.." spoke Grime. "The fall of Toad Tower severely demoralized the army-"

"It also didn't help that you got all fat, and lazy." smirked Sasha.

Grime grumbled. "yesss..Well, our little match proved that period of weakness is now behind me."

Sasha rolled her eyes. "well..I sent Percy and Braddock to rally the troops. They should return soo-"

"HEEEEY!" exclaimed a loud voice.

Sasha and Grime turned to see two toads in armor approach.

"Percy!, Braddock!, we were just talking about you two!" said Sasha, being friendly.

..Grime was LESS friendly, however. "Where are the rest of our troops, Soldier?"

Percy stared off, looking nervous. "well, uhhh..you see-, ummm..."

"They told us to tell you: "to shove it." answered Braddock.

"WHAT!?" exclaimed Grime, outraged.

Despite also being upset over this news, Sasha couldn't help but chuckle as Grime's outburst.

"Look, we TRIED...but, they all split off into their own cells." explained Braddock.

"They have their own captains, with their own plans to take over The Valley."

Grime's single good eye glowed with rage. "There is only ONE Captain of the Toads...and, THAT IS ME!"

"Of course you are, sir." said Percy. "But, the other guys, they are...hard to convince."

Grime growled. "bunch of TRAITORS, is what they are.."

"Grimsey...a word, please?" spoke Sasha.

Grime calmed himself, and walked with Sasha to somewhere more private.

"I trust you have advice for me, Commander." spoke Grimes, awaiting what Sasha had to say.

"Only that you were right before" began Sasha. "Ever since...ANNE, and her little frog friends destroyed Toad Tower,

things just haven't gone our way. SO, we need to focus on rebuilding Toad Tower."

"a sound plan." spoke Grime. "Except it will take a lot of Toad Power to even get started,

and given my army consists of only You, Percy and Braddock...I don't have very much confidence."

"Then, we "convince" a third party to help us." said Sasha.

"Impossible." said Grime. "I have no allies to turn to, only FALLEN ENEMIES."

"uh, sir?" spoke Percy (who chose this moment to approach.)

"What is it, PERCY!?" growled Grime.

"We do have ONE other option..What about asking your b-"

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" exclaimed Grime, angrily.

Percy jumped, startled at Grime's rage.

"Asking your What?" inquired Sasha, her interest piqued.

Grime crossed his arms, and looked away. "just forget it."

Sasha scowled. "GRIME. Do you know someone who could help?!"

Grime exhaled sharply. He turned to Sasha, and was about to speak...

..when suddenly, the sky lit up.

"OH, MY FROOOOOOOG!" exclaimed Percy, awestruck.

Sasha looked up at the sky...and, gazed in shock and awe at the BLUE, PINK and GREEN bolts of lightning that danced across the sky.

She recognized that lightning. It was the very same lightning that came from that damned music box that Anne opened so many months ago.

The multi-colored lightning appeared to be striking the ground somewhere far away.

There was then a blinding flash, and just like that...the lightning storm ended.

"what on Amphibia was THAT!?" exclaimed Braddock, shocked and confused.

Both Sasha and Grime had stern looks on their faces.

They both recognized that lightning, and knew it wasn't natural.

"PERCY.." spoke Grime, calmly.

Percy faced the Toad Captain. "y-yes, sir?"

"I want you to pen a letter. Tell Lord Grunge that Captain Grime requests an audience."

Percy nodded. "r-right away, sir."

As Percy ran off, and began to write something on a piece of paper.

Sasha finally broke her gaze from the sky, and looked at Captain Grime.

"Grime...Who is Grunge?" asked Sasha.

Grime inhaled deeply, his eye glowing brighter. "my brother."

"ohhhh..." Anne groaned as she began to awaken.

Opening her eyes, she found that she back in basement of the Plantar House.

she rubbed the bridge of her nose, wondering if her last recent memory had all been a dream.

Rising up from her bed, she climbed up the stairs and opened the door.

She then gasped upon seeing another human asleep on the couch in the den.

a human who was NOT Marcy, or even Sasha...but, a BOY.

Anne shut the door quickly. she gasped as she realized that her 'dream' had been real.

She really HAD nearly been eaten alive by a Python the size of a train!

Not only that, but she really had seen the same rainbow lightning that brought her, and her friends to this Frog World in the first place..

Was this BOY connected to it?! Was he also trapped here?

Anne finally worked up the courage to open the door again...and, saw the boy was starting to wake up.

she watched as he cracked his back, and stretched out his arms as far as he could.

It was then that Anne noted his clothing. Unless he had been to a Renaissance Fair recently,

he looked as if he had been plucked straight out of Medieval times.

So many more questions filled Anne's mind at that moment.

Was he another victim of that Music Box?, How long HAS he been here in Amphibia?!

He couldn't literally be from the Dark Ages, he looked to be the same age as herself.

..unless he was somehow Immortal. Was that a side effect of the music box?

Did this mean that SHE would be THIRTEEN FOREVER!?

Anna smacked herself, not wanting to overload her brain with millions of questions.

She finally walked into the den, revealing herself to the boy. "um..h-hey."

The boy looked at Anne with heterochromia eyes. "Oh, HEY, uhh...Anne, right?"

"y-yeah..that's me." said Anne, feeling awkward. "and, you are..."

"Olivier. Olivier Clawthorne." spoke the boy. "I saved you, Maddie, and that Frog Boy...Twig?"

"Sprig." said Anne.

"right-right..Sprig." said Olivier, looking away.

There was a long, uncomfortable silence...which was soon broken.

(("YOU'RE HUMAN RIGHT?, HOW DID YOU GET HERE!?")) exclaimed Anne and Olivier at the same time.

"wait-wait...YOU got sent here, too!?" inquired Anne.

"Yeah..with THIS thing." Olivier clasped his hands together..

..and, summoned THE Music Box as he opened them.

Anne gasped.

"While doing errands for my mom, I let myself get duped by a merchant into buying this stupid thing." explained Olivier.

"the old goat CLAIMED it's music would inspire me...but, all it did was transport me to this "Frogland"

Olivier sighed sharply as he waved his hand, dismissing the box. "worst thirteenth birthday EVER."

Anne frowned. "I feel your pain...REALLY, I do. It was on MY thirteenth birthday over three months ago,

when I let my friends talk me into stealing a music box that looked just like that!"

Olivier looked at Anne as she continued her story. "I opened it...and, it transported all three of us here.

I've been here with the Plantar's in Wartwood, I don't know where Marcy is, and Sasha...well, she's with these Toads, now."

"PLEASE tell me in these three months you have SOME idea on how to reverse this." said Olivier.

Anne shrugged. "I once asked Hop Pop if he knew anything about it."

"Who?"

"Hop Pop. He's an old Grandpa Frog who I live with." explained Anne.

"He gave MY music box to some contacts of his, so we have to wait to hear back from them."

"I see-eeeeh, oh-ohhhh..." Olivier suddenly began to tip over.

"WHOA!" exclaimed Anne, as she rushed over to catch Olivier.

She helped him back up, leaning him against the couch. "th-thank you, anne.." groaned Olivier.

"What was that all about?" asked Anne. "You looked like you were going to pass out."

Olivier groaned as he dismissed the music box one last time.

"i..I have a condition." spoke Olivier, his voice weaker.

"you don't say.." spoke Anne. "HOW are you doing all that stuff!?,

Humans can't shoot laser beams, and make stuff disappear and reappear!"

"they c-can when their halflings." spoke Olivier.

Anne looked at Olivier. "Half-what?"

Olivier breathed out. "My mother...she's a witch. and, I guess my father was human.

It's the only explanation why I can't use magic properly."

"You sure about that?, You seemed to do it pretty well when you thought that humongous snake!" said Anne.

"Yeah, and it took everything I had not to pass out then and there." answered Olivier.

"But, because I am Half-Witch, I lack a special internal organ that pure blood witches have.

I can perform magic, yes. but using it too much puts alot of strain on my body."

Anne tilted her head. "Really?, is THAT how that works?"

"It does in the Demon Realm." said Olivier. "That's where I was born."

Anne grimaced. "DEMON Realm?, no offense, but...you don't look like you came from Hell."

Olivier glared at Anne. "The Demon Realm ISN'T hell. It's another dimension."

Anne shrugged. "If you say so. I just want to get back home to Planet Earth."

Olivier groaned. "I wish mom was here...SHE could help us."

Anne frowned sadly. "yeah, I miss my mom, too-"

"No, I mean MY mom could help us." repeated Olivier.

"Mom runs a small business where she sells human trinkets to other witches and demons." explained Olivier.

"It's very profitable, since humans are aren't well known in the Demon Realm."

Anne looked at Olivier. "If that's true, then how does she-"

"Mom has her own personal poral to the Human Realm." said Olivier.

"a Magical Door and Key that she uses to travel to the human world anytime she wants."

Anne's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "wait..so, YOUR MOM COULD GET ME BACK HOME!?"

"Actually, my mom's portal could." corrected Olivier. "But, it's still with her in the Demon Realm."

Olivier grumbled. "I wish I had it NOW. I could use it to go back home right this second."

Anne's body trembled as a plan began to form in her mind. "this...THIS IS GREAT!"

"Huh-HMPH!" Anne suddenly hugged Olivier tightly.

"Don't you get it, Oliver!?, We can ALL go back home!" exclaimed Anne.

"You still have your Music Box!, if we can figure out how to get it to work, then we can use it to go back to YOUR World!,

And then you can use your mom's magic door to send ME, and my Friends back home!"

Olivier took a moment to ponder this. "It does sound like a good plan...but, It can't be that simple."

"We'll worry about that later.." said Anne. "I can't believe how close I am to getting back home!"

Olivier looked at Anne...and, the smiled.

"okay, Since it means that much to you.." began Olivier.

"I'll give you my word that no matter what happened...I'll help get you back home."

Anne shook Olivier's hand. "THANKYOUSOMUCH! You are officially the COOLEST, Oliver."

Olivier looked puzzled. "Cool..est?"

"It means, You're AWESOME!" said Anne.

"um..Okay, then." said Olivier, still confused.

Anne proceeded to run out of the house, exclaiming excitedly.

Olivier sighed as he sunk back into the couch. Wondering what he just roped himself into.
