Chapter 229 - Blurred Truth

She had just been silently hoping and praying that she would be too small to be seen and would be overlooked.

Hopefully completely ignored as he concentrated more on the door and breaking it down, even as the sound of breaking bones echoed in her ears.

But just when all her attention had been on waiting for her hopes to come to pass, she suddenly heard silence.

Where previously there had been loud groans, growling, and shrieks, suddenly there was nothing—so quiet that she would have believed she was the only one in the room if she wasn't certain she wasn't.

Hesitant at first but unable to hesitate any longer after a few seconds, and not knowing whether the silence was a good thing or the direct opposite,

Violet slowly raised her head only to freeze, her hands tightening and squeezing each other as her heart began to pound in her chest. She watched the beast, who stood on four hind legs, its midnight fur gleaming and completely red eyes staring right at her.
