Caspian opened his eyes to see the white ceiling of his bedroom, his sight slightly blurred as he blinked away the sleepiness in his eyes.
The window beside him brightening from the nearing morning light. The sounds of birds beginning to chirp and the only thing that came to mind was Viella.
He pushed himself up abruptly, looking around his bedroom where they had sedated him yesterday. And felt a tight knot in his stomach and heaviness in his chest.
He was a failure. He was a failure as a prince, as a son, and now as a man. One corner of his mind reminding him that Viella was just the girl who happened to help him. That none of his feelings have any more base than the simple gratitude anyone would feel.
But another side him, a louder, more vicious side that he had never come across until now screamed. Even if it's just a silly infatuation, he should have been able to protect her.
