Chapter 53 - Mystery

The creature, or moss goblin, as Iris called it, was not a willing participant in the conversation. Its eyes darted from each one of them as he spoke a language Viella didn't understand.

"Let me end its pathetic life," Iris suddenly said, lifting tendrils from the ground like summoned snakes. Whatever the moss goblin said, she did not appreciate it.

Caspian lifted his hand. "Patience, we must not let this opportunity slip by us so quickly," he said, taking from his pocket a small folded knife. Its silver blade glimmered.

Caspian stabbed it a few times, causing it some more pain. It squealed, the voice like that of a frightened pig.

"Now, who... sent... you?" Caspian asked, each pause filled with a twist of his knife.

It opened its eyes, looking straight at Caspian. "No one," it said, followed by a few coughs. Even as a creature, there was a sort of accent in his voice. Each word dragged.
