(To be honest, I'm pretty sick writing this omake, but I want to give you all something, even if it's not an actual chapter. Don't expect an actual chapter for a week, though. I might update later if I get better, but I give it that timeframe.)
Now introducing: Feelings Ahoy! (Interlude)
Nifty
You know when James had found her, she was really close to ending it all. She was truly alone for a few weeks before trying to rob that frost demon, barely any food, living out on the streets, the voices getting louder. She had escaped her miserable life from her "husband," but what had that gotten her? Eternal damnation without any parole.
Until he came. Initially, she had just felt lust towards James; he had fit that bad-boy look she absolutely loves, and he held onto her harder than any other man did. He was also the one who saved her, actually putting his life on the line for her of all people. She usually had to do really nasty things with her body for that to happen, even with her dad, but that's not the point here. Although she had thought about James just putting up an act like her dad, that was quickly dismissed, whether out of blissful ignorance or sheer denial.
James was absolutely amazing! ~ He was strong, smart when he wasn't hiding it for some reason, definitely cuter than her previous husband, he was the perfect man! Hell, whenever he sees her cleaning, he picks her up with one of his strong hands and offers to clean for her. She was going to rock his world when he was ready!
Oh, yeah, she had forgotten about him being scared of sex for some reason, which is weird because she thought every guy wanted sex. But when she teased him at night, not only did he try to move, but he also looked disappointed in himself. Whenever she had done that with other guys, they had all jumped on her, but James didn't. That was the only thing she couldn't figure out about him; James was almost scared of intimacy, and for the life of her, she couldn't tell why.
The best guess she had was that he had someone who hurt him… that BITCH! But it doesn't matter now; she can wait all she wants. She was going to love her man whether he liked it or not!
Charlie Morningstar
Charlie had very mixed feelings on James.
On one hand, he took almost nothing seriously, was very prone to causing property damage, she could probably count the number of brain cells he had on one hand, he was very prone to making puns that ticked Vaggie off to no end, he generally tried to get on everyone's nerves, and recently he started to make this weird hand sign whenever something minorly inconvenienced him and yelled something about "Raga the opp-stoppa."
Yet on the other hand, he was one of the kindest sinners she saw. She could see how deeply he cared about Nifty in the short amount of time they spent together; she could see how he genuinely wanted to push everybody to be their best; she could see that perceptive glint in his face before cracking a joke to take the attention off of someone who had been made uncomfortable by something he said. Hell, he had even saved Angel Dust twice now; if that isn't kindness, she doesn't know what is.
He even seemed to believe in her redemption plan! Granted, he didn't show his feelings about it, but he always woke up on time and did his best to participate in her trust exercises (while making puns, but she'll take what she could get!).
Vaggie
James was a fuckin' asshole, no doubt about it, but at the same time, she couldn't help but respect him. He had a tenacity that she hadn't even seen in angels, getting beat down day in and day out, yet never asking for her to stop; he just kept pushing. He has even managed to fight her in a fair 1v1 for a few minutes; she would need to add stamina training onto her list of things she would teach him.
Wait, what was she talking about? Oh, yeah, James is absolutely insufferable when he tries to be. Hell, he had made one pun in passing, saw that it annoyed her, and kept making puns that he just won't stop. She is this close to just stabbing him in this chest. Yet, even though he frustrated her to no end, he was hiding something, something big.
You see, combat to her is one of, if not the purest, forms of expression; you could learn many things about how someone parried, dodged, and struck. James struck with very precise force, not enough to have her arm blown off, but enough for her to definitely feel it. He dodged with a false casualness, looking as if he was barely trying, yet always moving just out of the way. He parried like a savage, trying to almost make her regret even trying to strike him.
Now, normally Vaggie would brush this off, but something was very different from other fighting styles; James' fighting style was so… fake. It almost seemed like he was trying to fight like he wasn't himself; she saw the hesitation behind every movement, the subtle twitches in his face as he purposely tried to hold himself back from moving.
At first she thought he was patronizing her, but she realized that even he himself didn't realize he was doing this. She tried to pry the info out of him subtly, but he genuinely didn't know what she was talking about.
James is a very interesting person, someone who she can't put her finger on, someone who took on roles without even knowing… He still was a dick, though.
Amery
Master was very strange.
Ever since he had saved her from becoming like her other self, a vessel for sheer hatred, she had wanted to repay him, yet he denied her advances every single time. Once, she had tried to cook for him, yet he just picked her up and gently sat her on the couch away from the kitchen. She didn't know why; the kitchen was only 79% compromised; she could've made some food in there.
She tried to clean up after him, but just like with that Nifty girl, he had picked her up and moved her out of the way while offering to lean. Speaking of that girl, Nifty was a madwoman, but at the very least she had a method to her madness. She tried to appease Master in every way, and Master returned the favor… Is this being human? Is this friendship?
Recently she's been in Master's body, briefly abandoning her physical body and investigating the matters of the soul with him. While she was talking to her master, she brought up his relationship with Nifty, asking what they were. Master stammered for some reason and said that they were "boyfriend and girlfriend." She inquired about what that meant, but he distracted her with more research about the soul to save this "Angel Dust" character.
Frankly, she couldn't see what her master saw in him; he was categorically evil, doing drugs, killing others, and whoring out his body. She could find no good reason for her master to be delving this deep into trying to save the spider. Maybe, when she returned to her body, she would have a little talk with him, but for now, all she could do was question her master's motives.
She's recently tried to delve into her knowledge about morality when she tried to judge the spider, yet when she brought it up to master, he said that "Morality isn't black and white; neither of us knows the reason why Angel did that or how he got into his situation, so we can't judge him. That's part of being human."
… She truly wondered if her master was a fool sometimes, a loveable one, but a fool nonetheless.
