(Ayra's POV)
A chill ran down my spine the moment I saw Nathaniel standing at my door.
My breath hitched, my pulse quickened, but I forced myself to remain composed. I couldn't let him see my fear. I wouldn't.
I met his gaze, my hands gripping the blanket draped over my legs.
"Hope I'm not interrupting," Nathaniel said, his voice smooth, almost too smooth.
I struggled to find my voice. "No, not at all, you can come in."
He stepped inside, closing the door behind him.
His lips curved into a polite smile, but there was something in his eyes that made me anxious.
"Is everything alright, Nathaniel. I wasn't expecting to see you?" I asked, trying to compose myself.
"I heard you hadn't been to work for the past two days," he said. "I wanted to check up on you, see if you were alright."
My fingers tightened around the sheets. Of course, he was keeping tabs on me. It shouldn't have surprised me.
