(Charlotte's POV)
The moment I stepped into my hotel room, I shut the door behind me and leaned against it, letting out a slow, satisfied breath.
I stood still for a moment, taking it all in—the silence, the dim golden glow of the lamps, the crisp coolness of the air-conditioning brushing against my skin.
Then, slowly, a satisfied grin tugged at my lips as I thought about the events of the day.
I did it.
Everything had gone exactly as planned.
I had secured my place in the same group as Darius.
And he had no idea how much effort I had put into making it happen.
Now, there was no running from me, no more brushing me off as if I were just another mistake he wanted badly to forget.
Now he would have to see me, work with me, sit across from me in meetings, strategize with me and talk to me.
And that was only the beginning.
This was the opening I had been waiting for, and the time had finally come.
