As they arrived at Natsu's area, he was escorted to the field as Gildart and the rest watched from a different room.
Natsu was fighting in a large room filled with pillars as Gildart thought, "They stole my ideas, I can't believe they would do such a thing, I thought that man said they prepared everything already" as he let out a deep breath.
As Natsu was standing in the room looking around, a beast from the other side came into the field.
The beast was a blue and white three headed dog with fox like appearance, and it emitted lots of magic energy as it entered into the room.
"That beast looks pretty powerful, I wonder if he would be able to survive this fight?" Kazuko thought.
"I think you guys went too far in this exam, I mean just look at him, he isn't in any condition to fight that kind of beast" Asahu said as Mitsuki replied, "You might be right about that, but no one expected him to be that injured, plus, it would be hard to just change his exam now."
"I'm happy one of you know that" Gildart said as he thought, "The kid decided to take both the adventurers and hunters' exam even after hearing he's an F rank. Plus, with the incident that happened earlier with Tetsuya, most people believe he is hiding his powers, so the higher ups decided to bring a powerful beast for him. It's no use thinking about it, I should just watch the fight and see what happens."
"I hope he's going to be okay. Yami is currently taking treatment from Dr. Mayumi so he might not see the fight start, but I would try to help him survive since he's Yami's friend" Kaikuh thought.
"Okay, let the final part of stage 2 of the exams begin" Gildart said as the stage 2 instructor pressed the button.
Natsu heard the sound and quickly hid himself as he tried thinking of a strategy to win the exam.
"At first the exams were looking okay, but now, it just feels like a death trap for the contestants. Once I saw that beast, I knew it was almost the same kind of beast that Yami fought, but right now I don't sense any magic coming out from that boy." The stage 2 instructor thought as he began searching through his file.
"It's possible the boy is suppressing his energy to make himself hard to find while strategizing. But to do that, he'll need to be properly trained by the institution. Something is not adding up" he thought as he finally saw Natsu's information.
"Wait, what's this?" He thought as he looked through it, "He's an F rank with no magic, wait, did I just see no magic?"
"Gildart we have to end this match, this boy is not capable of dealing with that beasts, he's an...!" He said as Gildart interrupted him and said, "F rank. Yeah, I already know that"
The stage 2 instructor was shocked and asked, "Then why haven't you ended his exam already?"
"I don't know, I guess I just have some expectations..." Gildart said as the stage 2 instructor replied, "I'm ending this exam, I can't stand here and watch someone die because of that!"
"Damian, don't!" Gildart said as a voice came from the speakers, "Sir he's right"
"What do you mean by that?" Damian said as the voice said, "The man was the one that selected that beast himself, and even told it not to hold back against the kid"
"What do you mean by that" Gildart asked as the man who almost fought with Gildart earlier said, "Number one selected that beast for the boy and told it that if it wanted its freedom, it should defeat the kid at all cost"
"So your telling me they expect the boy to win that thing!" Damian said as the man replied in a sober tone, "Yes sir"
"Do they want him dead or what, he has just been hiding and running around the pillars" Kazuko thought as Natsu spotted the beast and hid himself.
Natsu was scared and hoped the beast didn't see him, as he hid behind a pillar while trying to calm himself, covering his mouth and nose with his hands.
The beast broke the pillar he was hiding behind, and as he looked up, he saw the beast licking its lips and began running as the beast watched him silently.
The beast was way faster than him so it felt like it appeared close to him, hitting him through the pillars as he fell and tried to stand up.
The beast walked gently towards him as Natsu brought out his blades and got ready to fight.
"Who let him in with that weapon, doesn't he know he's not meant to use that" Gildart said as Damian replied, "We were so occupied that we forgot to check him"
"Well, at least his chances of survival has increased a little" Damian replied as Gildart complained.
"So his name is Damian, it looks like he's nicer than Mr Gildart" Kaikuh said and Mitsuki agreed with her.
Yami and Dr. Mayumi arrived since they were done with his treatment as Yami asked, "How's the fight going?"
Everyone looked towards him as Kazuko said, "Come see for yourself"
Yami saw Natsu swinging through pillars as the beast chased him.
Natsu's rope was tied to his waist and blade as he moved round the pillars.
"It looks like he's setting a trap" Damian said as Gildart replied, "Don't try to sugar coat it, he's running away from that thing"
"Of course he would, he's in no condition to fight that thing, he would just die if he tries" Dr. Mayumi said as Yami was concerned about him.
As Natsu was moving, the beast stopped and looked at Natsu and let out a sonic scream, which threw him off balance as the beast used the pillars to reach him and sent him towards the ground.
Natsu flew and crash landed on the ground. As he was getting up he remembered what just happened and thought, "I'm lucky I used S in nick of time, if not I'd have been ripped into two by my rope"
"This beast is strong, defeating it on my own won't be easy" Natsu thought as he got up and looked at the beast heading towards him while panting, as he bled from his head.
Natsu shouted "CM ROS" as the pillar broke, making rocks to fall around them as the beast dodged it and tried protecting itself.
Natsu saw this as an opportunity and used his rope to move around, as he dodged some rocks and got on the gigantic beast.
The beast moved out from that area and began looking for him as Natsu started cutting its fur.
"This is going to take a while" Damian said as he noticed the hair of the beast falling off.
"Even with his weapons, he can't still put on a good fight, guess I overestimated him" Gildart said in disappointment as he sighed.
"What does he think he's doing?" Kaikuh said as she watched the fight.
The beast felt an itch and tried scratching its body on a pillar, but Natsu tried to hold on as he continued cutting its hair.
"What does he think he's doing?" Kazuko murmured as Kaikuh looked at Yami and thought, "What does he think about the fight right now, is he disappointed with how his friend is fighting?"
"What's he planning? Does he have some kind of strategy to defeat that beast? It's hard to understand the way he thinks and act, is he going to win this fight or not? Damn it, I have so many questions but I guess I'll have to watch the fight to know what he's planning." Yami thought as Kaikuh looked back at the fight while thinking, "Even Yami doesn't know what's happening, I guess we would have to wait to the end to know if he would win or loose, but the odds are stacked against him"
Damian was worried about Natsu and looked at Dr. Mayumi and said, "Hope you're going to attend to him after this fight because I don't think he would be able to finish the next exam with those kind of injuries?"
"Nope" Dr Mayumi replied as Damian asked in an upset tone, "Why wouldn't you do it, I'm not sure that kid would survive this exams, so why, why would you not attend to him?"
"Don't misunderstand me, if the kid looses consciousness and fails the exam, I would treat him, but if he passes it, I would just wait until he fails before I let anyone attend to his injuries"
"But why would you do such a thing, why do you want to see that boy fail?"
"It's not like that, he did something and must serve the punishment I gave him" Dr. Mayumi said and Damian replied, "What could he have done to serve this kind of punishment, this is...!"
"Enough, let this conversation end here" Gildart said as Damian looked at him and replied, "You realize the boy might not make it and yet you're not doing anything about it, aren't you being cruel towards the boy, I mean, if it was a different person, you would have disqualified them by now!"
"As I said earlier, I have expectation..."
"Don't give me that crap! Tell me, why do you two decide to be cruel towards that kid, what did he do to both of you that you hate him!"
"I don't hate him, just look at Yami over there, would you say I hate him?"
"No but..."
"But nothing, I'm giving him the same punishment that Natsu is currently on and yet..."
"Wait, did you just say the same punishment?" Damian asked as Dr. Mayumi replied, "Yes, until the end of the exams, Natsu and Yami aren't allowed to have any medical care, unless they fail before the exams are over"
Damian was shocked as he thought, "Why? The exams are going to be brutal, don't they know they might die! What in the world did those kids do to be treated like this?"
"Come on Natsu, do something that would surprise everyone, you can't loose the battle when it hasn't even started" Yami thought as the beast became angry and roared.
The beast dashed forward and rolled it's body as Natsu flew out in order not to get crushed.
Natsu landed and looked at the beast as the beast looked at him with eyes full of rage as it growled angrily.
They both faced each other as Natsu took a deep breath and started using his rope to move around.
The beast chased Natsu making them move around the field as it felt like Natsu was moving in a circle since he tried to pick the furs.
It became a wild chase as the beast launched several attacks that destroyed some pillars, as Natsu tried to survive.
This kept everyone at the edge of their seats as they watched the fight.
After a long cat and dog chase, the beast appeared in Natsu's front, hitting him across the field as he broke lots of pillars and crashed into the wall.
Natsu coughed out blood and fell down, and as he tried looking at the beast, he noticed his surroundings becoming blurry, as he panted heavily and thought, "This is the end, my body is failing me and my vision is getting blurry, I don't think I would be able to win this beast" before losing consciousness.
