The two of them bought several common medications at the pharmacy and went to the checkout. Laurent was walking ahead, but when he reached the counter, he realized Dave hadn't caught up yet, so he had to wait for him.
After a short while, Dave emerged from behind a display shelf, holding a few boxes. When he got closer, Laurent took a good look and immediately felt quite embarrassed.
He gritted his teeth and quietly asked him,
"Why are you buying something like this?"
Dave didn't seem to mind, casually placing the boxes along with the other medications on the counter, his tone completely unrestrained.
"These are essential items for daily life, of course I have to buy them."
Laurent, "..."
Condoms were indeed essential for daily life, but not for them. They didn't even have that kind of life, so why was Dave buying these items—and several boxes of them at that? What was he really thinking?
The cashier at the counter suppressed a smile and proceeded to ring up their items.
