Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9: THE POWER OF THE NOBLES

In the adventuring world, power and fame are two of the most driving forces within the community. People from different backgrounds and classes all want to achieve greatness and present their ideals, countries, philosophies, etc., to etch their names in history.

One of the most important aspects of adventuring is mostly the conquest of dungeons and the rewards that come with it. The different empires are always in a rush to get the dungeons. The upper classes of nobles wanted control over them for their own financial and economic goals.

Each adventurer working within the industry is mostly either independent of a group or profession class or is part of or born into the upper classes. This level of control is also presented within the government as a way to control the industry for not only public safety but also to maintain a status quo within the community to not make their empires crumble or be swallowed by another empire. The most powerful figures that control the adventurers and the adventuring community are mostly nobles or the monarchs that control the government.

With a mix of various classes, the nobles comprise the majority of adventuring roles, particularly those related to dungeons. If a dungeon is located within the territory of a noble, that noble has the right to claim the dungeon as a private entity for personal gain. However, before they can take possession, they must register it with the adventuring guild, which operates under the government. If a dungeon is discovered outside an empire's territory but is near it, then it operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and the race to acquire the dungeon could potentially lead to conflict. If the dungeon lies between two or more empires, the involved empires must share the dungeon per the dungeon-conquering agreement known as The Locatum.

Dungeons are integral to the empires because the minerals within the dungeon have been helping with the growth of not only adventurers but also the empires that wield their power to achieve their goals no matter how much blood they have to shed to get it. Considering Asani hasn't revealed.

The location of a new dungeon and thinking he could be hunted by more than other groups other than adventurers, including, mercenaries, merchants, assassins and many more groups and individual groups of people, both in secret and also out in the open.

This causes tension, distress and anguish for someone like Abedi, and he fears there might be a war coming and this won't go well for him because it might end up causing a lot of damage not only for his business but also for the people closest to him. Considering the state he is in, he has no choice but to tell Mabel what is going on with his connection to the Kadinali Kings.

Abedi then begins to recount to Mabel what transpired in the past and how he became involved with the Kadinali Kings. He first told her that he didn't want to involve himself with the guild, but given the state of his business, he had no choice but to do so.

The Kadinali Knights are influenced and financed by a merchant guild called the Summus Guild. They are one of the big nine merchant guilds that control most of the trade within the human world. They know and understand the economic state of the human empire, the business of each kingdom. Although they know a lot, they're not aware of everything.

Abedi, considering his many loans, decides to borrow money from the guild through the adventurers. He learned about how the guild gives loans to the average citizen, and he decided that he needed to try the program the merchant had provided.

It was later that he realised that the program was just a way to hold him as an economic slave when he kept gaining more debts as the interest of his debt kept increasing. He had no idea how to make his debt go away and he had to sell some of his belongings.

"W..why didn't you tell me we were having problems with the shop?" Mabel asked while tears fell down her checks.

"I... I... didn't want to burden you, child, considering the hardship you went through in the past." Abedi replied.

"My burden is of my own, I don't need you to treat me like I'm some weak child, I can take care of myself," Mabel lamented.

"I have never seen you as weak, my child. You're a lot stronger than I was at your age. Please don't ever think that I see you as weak, my child," Abedi expressed firmly while holding his tears.

"Is this why you wanted me to start adventuring again?" Mabel inquired sadly

"Yes, I wanted you to stay aware of my shame but also to protect that server boy and help each to keep the store running," Abedi replied.

"I won't leave you, uncle. I will continue to work here and help you clear the debt," Mabel urgently replied.

"No, my child, please accept the server's offer, please do this for me," Abedi replied.

"But I promised my father that I won't go back to adventuring, not after what happened to Mum," Mabel said.

"Don't worry about Felix, he won't mind if you broke your promise to him, he loved that you enjoyed adventuring with your mum," Abedi affirmed.

Abedi then told Mabel that he could take the rest of the day off and speak to his father about her going adventuring again. He then gave Mabel the necessary tools that she needed for adventuring and that he needed to go with his friends on that dungeon.

Meanwhile, back at Crimson Blue's guild house, Aaron and Hudson are arguing about him leaving the party at the lobby of their house. Hudson had his minions behind him, some of whom would always support and sing his praises, while Aaron was back by only Lydia and Ava, who was hiding behind Lydia and didn't want them to fight any further.

It became so vicious and uncontrollable that they almost started to exchange blows, with Aaron landing the first strike by punching Blake. Blake retaliated and punched Aaron, who was taken aback.

They both wanted to draw their swords, but the environment then started to become unbearable as their leader, Christopher Elis, stepped out of his chambers and came floating with his magical staff, emanating the most powerful Navitas aura.

Blake, who was ready to strike Aaron, was tongue-tied, and he quickly changed his posture. Aaron who was about to unsheathe his sword, also felt his Aura but immediately urged the leader to control his Aura due to the discomfort of his best friends. He decides to do so as he approaches the lobby.

"What is with all this commotion? You better give me an explanation as to why you bothered my slumber," Elis stated vehemently.

"S..sir Elis, Hopkins here wants to leave, but he hasn't fully paid his debt," Blake said.

"Is what true, Aaron?" Elis asked, demanding an answer.

"Yes, my Lord, I have decided that it is time I left the party, and I would like you to please let Lydia Elda and Ava Shula leave with me." Aaron pleaded

"Then, follow me to my office. The rest of you, get back to work. We have received word of a goblin cave. Blake, you will lead the crimsons into that campaign, is that understood? Elis declared as he commanded the adventures, while Aaron and the two mages followed Elis to his chambers.

"Y.Yes sir," Blake replied.

Aaron's debt was that his father, Henry Hopkins, who is now the mayor of the town, decided to sell His son Aaron into a slave contract to gain political and economic fame. Considering Aaron came from a noble family, his family's nobility deteriorated after his grandfather, Lucas, squandered his family's fortune. To grow back his wealth, Henry had to find a way to first revive his family's business since they were a family of builders that built ships and important official houses.

Aaron, who came from a family of six children and him being the last with an average affinity for magic compared to his siblings who henry used as his golden goose due to them having high magic affinity and three of them joining the military while two become builders of ship, become a hinderance, as Aaron's talent was only being a good hard worker with no talent for anything.

Henry seeing Aaron as a broken child that didn't have the potential of golden goose stardom was thrown out and sold to a slave contract, at the tender age of 7 as a way to reduce the family's debt on the Elis family, a family of mages and one of the most powerful noble families. Due to this, Aaron worked his as off and became an adventurer under Christopher Elis, who is known as one of the Great grand mages of humanity.

He worked for free for Christopher Elis as he was paying his family's debt of 2000 Chrysos (which was 20 million dollars). When Aaron was 11, he heard that his father had become the mayor and thought he would finally be free of his contract. He was sadly disappointed as his father never showed. He pretended that he didn't know him and that he should never meet him again.

From that day on he decided to dedicate his life to leaving the crimson blue and also Ellis's grip of him. When Aaron was twelve, Ellis then brought two more slaves. One was Lydia Elda, a young Ten-year-old child who decided to sell herself into slavery when her mother was sick.

Her mother was working for Elis' family and considering her father died and they didn't have someone to take care of, he had no choice but to take care of her mother, and Ava Shula a young girl by the age of Nine who was an orphan that was sold into slavery by the patron of the orphanage after the orphanage couldn't provide for the orphans. To this day, Ava doesn't know what happened to the kids that were in the orphanage.

Considering her high magical affinity and Navitas Aura, Christopher Elis saw the potential and bought her. Christopher sees Ava as a perfect specimen, especially for his secret magical experiments, a secret business that the Ellis family has been doing for one and a half of a century.
