But for him, there were plenty of reasons.
First, he needed a cover. If he suddenly started producing high-level forged beast without anyone witnessing him creating them, questions would arise.
People would wonder how he got access to rare materials, and why no one had ever seen him practice. Working under Garrick would provide a believable explanation.
Second, there was value in learning from a master forgemaster—especially one with military connections.
Evo's forge lab might have advanced technology, but Garrick had experience and a deep understanding of forging techniques. If he wanted to refine his craft beyond just what he learned from the professors in his family, this was the best way to do it.
And lastly, having unrestricted access to a public forge meant freedom. He couldn't always rely on Evo's lab, not when he had to work under watchful eyes.
