Chapter 17 - secrets 02

Sean's p.o.v.

We've discussed too much, and I'm quite exhausted of the topic, but trust me on this, and we'll see. I could not help but hiss as I dropped the call; the past days have been quite exhausting for me, from one event to troubles and Maya. I can't put a lot of occurrences to words, but it's a lot, and I feel all the drama coming together, and I know for sure there'll be an explosion really soon. She doesn't know, and she doesn't need to know yet.

I browsed through the internet to catch up on the day's most popular event as I sat behind the car and listened to the music my driver decided to play. I'm glad he chose something calm because my headache does not need an excuse to reappear. The drive to my destination seemed short on my arrival; I dropped down as I noticed that for the first time since we started working together, Maya arrived before me. She sat at the far end of the room quietly as little conversations passed across everyone. I noticed she is not much of a talkative person; it's almost as if she's always bothered about something, or she might just be a stuck-up girl that thinks she's better than everyone; who knows?

"You're drooling, Maya said as I picked a seat across from hers. I couldn't help but smirk because she's quick to hide her emotions. I guess strong girls turn me on. I shook my head internally as I thought of my earlier conversation with my uncle. I should not be scared; it is completely a part of who I am, I said internally to myself. I couldn't help but notice the stain on her cheek; it made her look even cuter. After the contract for our fake relationship was successfully signed , I suggested we go blow some steam at The Oaks, a club in the heart of the country that is a home to drinkers, gamblers, and the rest. I needed to test some waters with her. The loud music buzzed through the speakers, and Maya just seemed to drag attention to herself because she was recognized the moment we stepped foot into the club, but it's a club, so it took a few moments for everyone to go back to just doing their things.

So you're bringing me to a club for our first fake date. Maya yelled through the loud music, Nope, this is more like a get to know me thing, Maya. I responded... I watched as she downed drinks—cocktails upon cocktails to whiskey. It is not even safe to say she's wasted. I didn't even manage to have any meaningful conversation with her. I watched as she downed her last drink and slouched on the chair with her hands and mouth hanging , but her mouth was looking delicious, the slight drool giving it a pinkish, plump, and glossy look. I finally decided it was time we head back to her house, or rather, I took her home. Someone suddenly bumped into me and was asking for a photo; I could not help but wonder why things are like this, like sometimes we need breaks; selfies in a club are just, well... I finally took Maya and was heading for the entrance when she suddenly stood still and was muttering something to herself. She seemed pretty conscious. I watched as her forehead creased and a slight frown appeared on her face. I was desperately trying to understand if it was drunken talk or she was actually talking to someone, but who is she talking to? She suddenly screamed and stood almost frozen on the spot as I tried holding her hands but was zapped away by an intense power...

I couldn't move for a long time, and Maya was still frozen to a spot. I dragged myself up when I realized that we were starting to gather attention to ourselves. I got up, though feeling lightheaded and completely out of my strength. I reached out to Maya again but felt the gushing power swing me away...
