Chapter 133 - The Feds

"My name is Kate Macer, and I am an FBI agent looking to find those responsible for murdering my colleagues with those explosives."

It could be said that Kate was the best at what she did in her job. Throughout her career, she had encountered all kinds of criminals. But what she found that morning in that house in Arizona truly left her with a confusion that, to this day, remained unresolved.

What was the need to be so brutal against another life?

The walls covered in corpses and those unnecessary explosives in the shed that wiped out her colleagues made no sense at all.

Kate had spent her entire career facing off against the cartels in Arizona. These types of criminals were always present in every case she solved.

But nothing she did ever seemed to reach the root of the problem. That feeling of doing something that ultimately led nowhere frustrated her deeply.

Her colleagues didn't share the same thoughts—how could they when they had families to go home to? Unlike Kate, who was alone, many had found a balance.

She had been able to go through her days without overthinking her work, but everything changed when her friends were blown to pieces.

Even days after surviving that terrorist attack, Kate could still hear the deafening explosion and the gut-wrenching screams of her colleagues who had been closest to the blast.

The sound that marked the line between life and death.

That fiery attack that changed the way she lived her life.

Since then, she had not only dedicated herself to investigating those responsible for the attack but had also uncovered connections she never thought she would find.

"Thank you for the information, Agent Valdez. I'll keep you updated if my investigation has anything to do with the Felipe Lobos Cartel," Kate said before hanging up the call with a prosecutor who worked closely with the FBI to take down Felipe Lobos.

Then, looking around, Kate realized she was being reckless.

She hadn't slept in two days. In front of her, a map of the United States was covered in marks and lines, representing her personal investigation—the one she had started the night she buried her colleagues. She couldn't trust anyone else; the system was broken, and she was tired of following senseless orders.

Everything had started with the raid in Arizona. The mission was simple: neutralize a group of hitmen from the Sonora Cartel and gather intelligence on their movements. No one expected the brutality of the scene. Corpses embedded in the walls like trophies, dismembered bodies, a shed full of explosives. When her colleagues entered, the trap was triggered.

The explosion was precise, calculated. That day, they had undoubtedly been waiting for them. Her theories, though solid, led nowhere.

Her superiors made excuses: "It's a tragedy," "We did what we could." But Kate knew that the ambush wasn't just an act of random violence. The level of planning and resources used exceeded the capabilities of an ordinary cartel. Someone else was behind it.

FBI analysis revealed that the explosives matched unresolved cases in New York and Los Angeles. Similar attacks—surgical strikes that wiped out entire gangs without leaving traces.

Digging deeper, Kate used her contacts and reached Ángela Valdez, a federal prosecutor investigating the Felipe Lobos Cartel. Valdez had information about a terrorist group that had worked with the Sonora Cartel, supplying them with weapons and logistical support.

The last piece fell into place when Kate discovered that these same terrorists were linked to "Los Hijos de la Anarquía," a supposed motorcycle gang operating nationwide. Many agencies dismissed them as mere ex-soldiers using their pastime to cope with the traumas of war. But Kate saw something more: a well-organized network with resources and a hidden agenda.

Kate lit a cigarette and looked at her board. This wasn't just about a cartel. It wasn't just about terrorists. Two forces were at war, using criminals as chess pieces. If she wanted answers, she would have to dive even deeper into the darkness.

"It's impossible for the Sons of Anarchy to be attacking facilities like this if they're just soldiers, yet they're so well-organized that nothing has been found on them."

Kate only wanted to catch the criminals who had murdered her fellow agents, her colleagues, and her friends. Now, at a dead end with no more leads, she had to consider the proposal that the CIA agent had offered her.

"I'll have to investigate alongside them."

Federal Investigation Center

Matt stood in front of a whiteboard, pointing at various investigations they had gathered so far. He said, "Alright, as you know, to catch the terrorists playing with explosives in our country, the first thing we need to understand is what we're dealing with."

Among the CIA agents she would be working with to track down the criminals who had left her restless, Kate studied the images of those leaders and paid close attention to the briefing.

"I don't understand. Now, all of a sudden, there are two factions at the border?"

"Exactly. And while we're having this conversation, they're butchering each other," Matt said as he looked at the board. "The man we're interested in capturing is Fausto, but to get to him, we first need to go through Manuel Díaz, who is currently at war with the Felipe Lobos Cartel."

"It's not just them. We also know that another group calling themselves SAMCRO has been leaving their mark in every criminal massacre carried out against Felipe Lobos' rivals." Matt then showed images of dozens of decapitated bodies.

"Is this in the official report?" Kate wasn't sure if this information could be found in the database.

Matt looked at Alejandro among the members of the meeting and then turned to Kate. After a brief pause, he said, "What matters to us is finding the terrorists. Felipe Lobos is just a coke dealer pushing his powder in the United States. But the ones from Sonora, led by the Jiménez Cartel, are the real problem—they've taken this fight to the next level."

"But we should also investigate whether there's any connection to gangs or organizations within our country. That's the only way crime could be stopped for an indefinite time."

"That won't help us."

"Why not?"

"We're DEA. The problems you're mentioning should be left to the FBI, and that's your specialty. If you're here, it's because you accepted the offer to hunt down those bastards who killed your agents." Alejandro, who had remained silent until now, joined the conversation, strongly dismissing Kate's obsession with SAMCRO.

Everyone in the room, except her, knew exactly who SAMCRO really was and what they were doing in Mexico. Dante's fight against the cartels had taken a back seat, making things quieter—just as Alejandro wanted.

"I was just saying that if the FBI stops whoever is cooperating with the cartels, that would be the best-case scenario." Kate was still focused on SAMCRO.

Her insistence led Matt to ask, "Who told you about SAMCRO?"
