Chapter 134 - Anonymous Source of Information?

Alejandro stared at Matt intently. They had an appealing cooperation that benefited both of them in this operation to eliminate Fausto and find his drug tunnel.

But the problem was that they couldn't continue in Mexico without bringing an FBI agent along. They were confident they could take on any criminal organization, no matter how large, but they had limits—those limits were the members of SAMCRO.

Matt had investigated them, and what he found didn't sit well with him. All of them were former special forces members, veteran Marines who had served in war, full-fledged combat experts—these were the ones who made up the group.

"Juárez is currently a massive war zone. We can't afford to divide our focus on more than one objective."

Alejandro, who understood the risks of following leads no one else wanted to pursue, stood up and said, "The plane will be ready in a few hours. Now that you know our objectives, we need to prepare."

As Alejandro left the room, Matt approached him and asked, "Is everything still the same?"

"There are no changes. On their end, SAMCRO will halt the attacks, and all we need to do is capture our guy." Alejandro replied casually.

He wasn't bothered by what was happening with the cartel wars, nor was the DEA, which hadn't lifted a finger to stop the conflict.

The more hitmen died, the better for everyone—especially for those who were doing everything in their power to stop the flow of drugs into their country.

A few hours later, after reaching the Arizona-Mexico border, she was exhausted.

"Why doesn't Alejandro want anything to do with SAMCRO?" Kate couldn't explain the lack of obsession some federal agents had.

She was ready to capture SAMCRO's leader. But before that, she planned to uncover the entire organization—one that no one had been able to expose for what it truly was.

As she looked for a nearby bar to clear her mind, Kate found a place where border agents likely gathered after work.

Without a second thought, she walked in and headed straight to the bar, ordering a beer. Her calm gaze scanned the room, but no one seemed worth a second glance.

"You don't seem to be from Arizona."

A man with glasses and a backpack sat next to Kate, deep in thought.

Kate, immersed in her investigation and personal problems, turned to look at the man beside her.

Realizing he might have come across as rude, the man smiled timidly and said, "I'm Marcus Miller. I'm here to report on border crimes for a TV program."

"I could help you a lot with that…" Kate joked as she continued sipping her beer.

Marcus looked surprised and then said, "Then maybe you could give me some leads. I just finished interviewing those guys in black jackets, and they gave me these cool stickers."

"I'm just drinking…" Kate's words trailed off when she saw the stickers in Marcus's hands. They had the exact same symbol she had seen in reports mentioning SAMCRO.

They were just a motorcycle club, but the more Kate thought about it, the more doubts crept into her mind about the organization.

"Is that them?" Kate turned toward the group of men in black leather jackets.

Marcus nodded slightly and said, "They're pretty friendly. Don't let their rough looks fool you."

"Oh…"

Kate stood up and approached the men, but before she could say anything, a voice stopped her.

"Stop looking for problems where there are none and focus on the real enemies."

Completely confused, Kate turned her head and saw a man sitting alone at a table, drinking from a bottle of wine.

"Sit down. We need to talk."

"Who are you?"

"Dan, that's what they call me…"

Dante, who had suddenly appeared in this desolate bar, flashed a charming smile and said, "We don't have much time before you lose the opportunity to have this conversation forever."

Kate sat across from Dante, keeping her distance.

Noticing this, Dante finished his glass of wine and said, "I know you spoke with Prosecutor Valdez. I also know you're linking SAMCRO with real criminals like the Mexican cartels."

"How do you know all this?"

"Well, let's just say I have investigators who keep me informed about my organization's status."

Crack!

Kate shot up from her seat, but just as she was about to draw her gun, Dante's cold demeanor shifted, and he warned her:

"Do you even have any evidence to support your actions right now?"

"Then tell me, what is SAMCRO?"

"We're the good guys, regardless of what Prosecutor Valdez told you. So, please, listen to me carefully." Dante paused and then said, "SAMCRO is an organization that will make law enforcement efforts against criminals much more effective."

"You traffic weapons…"

"And I ask you, who sent you that information?"

Kate glanced around and whispered, "I investigated it myself…"

"No, no, no… It's true that we're being investigated by the FBI and federal agencies, but I highly doubt you know more than my actual enemies."

Dante was aware that his name had been making the rounds lately, and one of the people taking an interest in him was Kate.

The reason he was here was to determine whether he needed to eliminate an FBI agent who might have been bribed by his enemies.

When the data reached him, Dante realized there were unclassified files on Angela Valdez's computer, which his organization had been monitoring.

The moment all those files passed through his system, he knew that many of the Sons of Anarchy's dealings could be exposed.

It wasn't a major issue—security had been improved, and they no longer relied solely on the U.S. to sell weapons. But it would become a problem if it meant taking unnecessary risks with their enemies.

And now he was here, facing an FBI agent with whom he hoped to have a friendly conversation.

"I'm going to arrest you…"

"On what charges?"

Dante smiled at Kate and said, "I'm your informant. We'll be working together on some of your missions in Mexico."

"A criminal helping others?"

Dante, who now seemed completely different from his usual self, said, "We all want a world without drugs."
