Chapter 63 - My Sad Story In The 90s

"Years later, I thought my mom and dad would change their minds to support my dream, but they didn't. So, I moved away to my grandfather's house and stayed with him next door in the city. Because my grandfather was a footballer, he knew a lot of friends who also played football in the 90s, but because they had support from their families, they were able to go far with their football journey and now some are professional footballers and coaches. My grandfather introduced me to a best friend who was always helping me to play football. Any time after school, I would just run fast to his house for us to train all day and night."

"One day, I asked my grandfather why it's that people don't like it when a friend is trying to do something different from others. Uh, you know, my grandfather was really exceptional to know whom I was referring to. I mean my parents. So, my grandfather smiled at me and said, "Your life is different from your parents', but they never know. And your parents never like football and this is not only your parents, but the whole family never likes football. It's because they had the opportunity to work for the government. Some are professional doctors, lawyers and bankers in this family. Very important people in this family. This started with my father, who was a lawyer for the governor of this city, who was killed in the 90s by a gunshot. Yeah, my father was attacked in his house."

"From that day, we lost such an important person. The news breaks a lot of hearts in this city. Because of that, their minds always tell them to force their kids to work for the government, and it's easy to have the opportunity to work for the government. "Our parents don't even think about what the child likes, but what they like or love. "

"My grandfather told me a lot about the question I asked him. If not that day, my parents never mentioned to me that our family had such an important person in our family, but my grandfather told me about the best lawyer we ever had, but he was killed years ago by a gunshot. My grandfather made it clear to me that if I listen to my family, I will not become what I like, but their choice. My grandfather supported me thoroughly. You know, my grandfather told me to get myself a sidekick on my football journey. I had my best friend as my sidekick. Hmm, so sad for me, my grandfather died years back. I was really confused when my grandfather said I should get myself a sidekick, but I really understood it after he died. My grandfather was my everything, but he left me forever. But I had a supportive sidekick who helped me throughout my journey. We kept scoring together, which made me what I am today."

[Players cheer after Coach Theodore's voice]

Coach Theodore smiled at Lefah, Garriso and the other players and said, "So, we all need a sidekick, and the question is, who is your sidekick?"

Garriso smiled and said, "I'm going to be my brother's sidekick, Coach."

[Both giggle]

"Oh, wow, that's good, but this is not something you should just say yes to, when you're ready to fight through whatever it takes on your journey. But hey, this is absolutely a good decision Garriso. Lefah is your brother and you boys should keep on working on this together only if you have made your mind to this. It will keep you playing better and not just playing better but always scoring and winning. "

[Both players] "Okay Coach..."

"Okay, and don't just open your mouth and say it, but work on it. Sidekicks support, motivate, advise, and score together. "I am hoping to see it in the next season, understand?" [Coach Theodore giggles]

[Both players] "Yes Coach..."

"Okay and thank you for your time and everything, my boys. Hope to see you strong enough for another training day. Have a nice day, training is over now. Bye."

[Player's cheer, hug and laugh]

[The next day at Old Street NBA court in the evening]

[Black Lefah once said something about morning. What the young man said was that.] "Every morning comes with a different light, which means new life. That's why you can never compare yesterday to the new day or morning. Every morning is really a beautiful day. Anytime I wake up in the morning from my dreams. I walked out of my bedroom to stand outside the compound and listen to the sweet singing birds flying in the sky. Nobody understands the birds' language, but it's really sweet when you always hear them singing. I wish I could sing like those pretty birds in the sky, but I never understood their language, even to learn the kind of songs they always sing in my compound every morning. This really tells me how sweet and blessed I'm to see every single morning. Nothing is sweet when having the next morning or to see the next light shining everywhere. I mean life, life keeps changing every morning. That's why you also need to change every single morning positively for your own happiness."

In the next section, Lefah with his brother, Garriso, and the street king and his gangsters were playing together at an old street NBA court. Like how they used to play on the NBA court. The high school football team's coach, Coach Wilson, was looking at them when they were playing with the gangsters. None of them knew Coach Wilson was standing somewhere looking at them because they were busy playing their NBA challenge on an old street NBA court. Coach Wilson was really happy and enjoying their play, and he looked a little bit surprised because he didn't know Lefah and Garriso could play NBA like that, but they chose to play American football. Coach Wilson keeps asking himself a lot of questions.

[Coach Wilson kept an eye on them when they were playing their NBA. Lefah and Garriso had no idea about it till they finished playing and Coach Wilson walked to them.]
