I read through my Magi disc and saw that I had higher stats then Lilly who was now trying to look over my shoulder to read my disc. Even though I got to read hers when ahe got it I tried to hide mine.
"No fair Bellz! You saw mine let me read yours too!"
"What Bellz has read Lilly's Magic disc! No fair!" Maxime said as he also was trying to look over my shoulder.
"I didn't read it! I didn't know how to read then." Well that was a lie, I did read it. But I never really found out or asked why was able to read it.
"You did read it! Mother said that the disc is made of some metal that's infused with magic that makes it possible for anyone to understand what is written on it."
I looked over at mother who was deep in thought. She saw my gaze and said "Yes the disc is made from a combination of hellfire stone and celestial stone. It both automatically translates to a language you understand and even if you can't read you will be able to read it."
"So Bellz you did read it!" Lilly tried to grab my hands to pry the disc from it but I held on with all my power.
"Okay! Okay!" I showed them the disc and their eyes lit up.
"Unfair! You have more magic then me!" Lilly yelled out.
"Wow what it does all mean? I guess the letter represents the strength of the magic right? But the titles what does that mean?" Maxime asked as he read through it.
"Well..." Mother looked at Tess to find the answers.
"Titles are given by the gods for the different accomplishments in life...but having four titles at such a young age that is extremely rare...having one or two titles isn't that rare." Tess said as she studied me with her gaze. "Some can be born with titles such as prodigy hunter or something similar that shows that you have a gift in certain areas. Magdala is a good example."
"Yes I had two titles the first time I got my disc. One was the heir of fire the other one well...the last daughter of the first. They showed me different things that would affect some parts of my life if I choose to follow them."
"The last daughter of the first?" Maxime asked.
Magdala ignored his question and explained instead what 'heir of fire' ment. "Heir of fire showed that I was born to be one of the strongest when it came to the fire element."
"Aunt Magdala what's your fir element quality?" Maxime asked with a sparkle in the eyes.
I could imagine she definitely had rank S minimum, but I never would have guessed her answer.
"Triple S. Some would argue that if I focus on my training I could reach god rank within the next two to thre centuries or so...but well it is not my goal in right now."
"Two to thre centuries!?" Both me and Maxime ask at the same time.
"How long does Dromos live?" Maxime asked Rachel.
"Around a thousand years, but some can live longer. The empress Lilith is said to have lived for thousands of years."
"What!" He said with a shocked face. "How old are you Magdala?"
"Me? Last I counted I think I reached somewhere between three to four hundred tears of age."
"So you are like an old grandmother?" The room went silent.
"Grandmother..." Magdalas face froze as she repeated the words. "Grandmother, grandmother..." The air started to heat up as I saw tiny sparks flare up at mothers finger tip.
"Now now Magdala calm down. You might be older then normal races! But it doesn't mean that you are old." Father said as he tried to calm her down but it only added fuel to the fire.
"Normal races! Old! Ton...you might be from the Kingdom of Luteria but I never thought I would hear the words 'normal races' come from you..." The air in the room was starting to become hard to breathe as the temperature rose. "You be quiet Ton...we will talk about this later." She snapped her fingers and a flash of light shone from fathers mouth. He tried to scream but to sound came out.
"Father!" Lilly said in shock.
Mother patted Lilly's hair as she said "Don't worry, he will recover. This more like training for him." She then turned to Maxime and said with an empty smile. "But yes dear little Maxime, I am older then some other races can become but it doesn't mean I am old. Understood dear?"
All the colours had left Maximes face as he nodded intensely.
"Good." The temperature started to cool down as mothers normal kind smile appeared on her face again. "Now back to the titles. We don't know for certain what they all means for now. But one of them sticks out."
"Watched by the gods..." Tess said as she sat down on a chair.
"It can have a lot of different meanings but one thing is for certain. We can not have him registered in the kingdom or the republic. Or even the church for that matter." Mother declared as she looked at me.
"Why not? I know you said something about Luteria declaring Dromos as demons. But what about the republic?"
"Well Bellz...maybe it is time we explain more about this world...if it was up to me I would choose to just live her in the outskirts of Oakhill and not worry about the future but it is not possible I guess..." Mother contemplated a of where to start before she began her explanation.
"The republic of beastkin is made up of the different tribes of beastkins. Such as the Caninkin (Dogs/wolf/foxes) Felinkin (Cats/Tigers/lions/etc) Avinkin (Birds) Ururskin (Bears) and many more. They rule through survival of the fittest in a democratic way."
"What do you mean?"
"Every four years the different tribes have a tournament to declare who they send to the election where they fight to see which tribe will rule for the next coming four years. If you would like to learn more about it there are some books you can read in the library. But rhe important part is that usually Beastkin worship power and might. And you having the title of 'watch by the gods' might invite problems in the sense of challenges. That might not be that bad in the future of course but the biggest problem is Luteria."
"Luteria used to be a peaceful country." My father who have seemed to recovered some of his ability to speak spoke up with a raspy voice. "The king has been absent in his rule and his son sits in power surrounded by the different noble houses that is trying to control everything...but what is the most troubling is what happened ten years ago."
Mother nodded and sat down on a chair and explained. "The king who hadn't shown his face in years one day sent out a declaration to the masses that only humans are the ruling race. Every other race is below them and the Dromos is the enemy of humanity."
"Isn't that kind of stupid?" Maxime asked. "Even if the king said so himself doesn't mean the whole country will agree?"
"You are to smart for your age Maxime." Rachel said as she shook her head. "Yes some parts of Luteria did not agree to this new stance on societi. But...this was something that had been growing through the years. Whispers in the shadows, talks in the pubs and most of all. In some elite schools they taught the students of humanitys superiority."
All of this sounded so familiar from my old world of how some governments would change the will of the masses to get their agenda through.
"The thing is that humans live only a few years compared to other races and quickly change and adapts to different ways of living. This makes them hardy and tough. But it also makes the masses easy to manipulate."
"So the why would the title 'watched by the gods' be bad then?" I asked them as I saw the worried faces.
"How do you think the royal family and the nobles would react if a Dromos, ,omething they think of as the enemy of humanity would be declared to be observed by divinity would apear?"
A chill ran through my spine. The thought of me being hunted and killed only for some gods to have an interest in me.
"I think I understand."
"A nail that stands out will always get hammered down no matter in what world huh?" I heard Urpies say as she had silently been observing the whole situation.
"So...what happens next?" I felt the anxiety grow inside me. I didn't want to be hurt of course but what made me the most worried was the thought of my family getting hurt because of me.
"Nothing." Tess said. "We will keep this a secret for now. Your disc will update some information as you grow. But getting new things such as finding out titles, new spells and skills or more advanced magic you need to register a new disc. But the strength and rank of your existing magic updates as you grow. So there is no need to have you register with the church for now."
She thought for a moment before she said. "We can probably make a few more registrations in secret but to many to often it could cause trouble. And don't register with the adventures guild until you come of age. The same rules can apply there of having to document for the government, depending on country or region of course."
So much information and worry spun in my head. Only because of a simple title...
