Darren's POV
I drove like a speed demon determined to outrun death, checking the map to make sure I was on the right track. Kristin said they had tracked the kids to the Apuseni mountains but that was all they had. They were still trying to check with the locals if they were sighted and what possible routes they had taken.
Honestly, I was ready to storm all the 300 or so villages on the mountain, compelling them to give me answers. At the peak of my rage, Kristin managed to deter me, warning me that I was too angry to be messing with human minds.
It had happened once before. In a fit of rage, I had compelled a group of humans and instead of doing as instructed, their brains instantly melted, leaving them in a vegetative state.
I had partly regretted my actions, but it disappeared in a flash. They were criminals and child traffickers, deserving a punishment worse than death. But I silently swear never to go that far again.
Luckily, Kristin was here to stop me.
