Ovelia's POV
I rolled around in bed, hugging my pillow tightly, a giddy smile on my face. The misunderstanding between Ace and me had finally been cleared up, but as soon as he left, a wave of disappointment washed over me. I could now grasp the essence of love, but I hadn't anticipated the whirlwind of emotions that would flood me once I opened my heart.
A soft knock at the door broke my reverie. When it opened, I found Ann standing there. I sat up quickly on the bed, brushing my hair aside. "Sorry, Ann! I completely forgot we were supposed to be cooking."
"That's okay, Ovelia! Mrs. Melinda and I finished cooking. We're about to eat!" She entered with a bright smile and settled down beside me, her easy presence calming my nerves.
"I'm sorry I couldn't help with the cooking. I didn't even get to bake the puff pastry," I admitted, a hint of guilt creeping into my voice.
