The Ice and Fire Envoys are Martial Artists of the Xu Family; these two are twin brothers, the elder brother named Dong Huo, the younger named Dong Bing.
These siblings were born with a strange illness, elder brother Dong Huo's body intensely hot, often combusting spontaneously, whereas younger brother Dong Bing's body was freezing cold, as if having emerged from an ice cellar. As they aged, their condition worsened. Their parents sought a fortune teller to read their fate, who divined that the two would not live past eighteen!
On the eve of their eighteenth birthday, one was to combust, the other to freeze solid, both on the brink of death, when a filthy old beggar appeared, claiming he could save them and promptly took them away.
The siblings did not return for five years, leaving their parents to believe they had perished!
