Chapter 74 - An Introduction

Coughing awkwardly Thanatos tried to change to focus of the conversation. When Marco saw him coughing though he panicked and immediately rested the stunned Thanatos on the ground.

Immediately afterwards he raised two fingers in front of his face and ask "How many fingers am I holding up?" while carefully observing the stunned god. Thanatos was honestly stunned speechless, he was not that fragile you know?

When Thanatos was about to rebut Marco's train of thought, he realised he was too late. The moment that thought shot through his mind was when he found that Marco was princess carrying him and about to speed off.

Without thinking much Thanatos jumped off Marco's arms and grabbed his shoulder. "I'm fine OK. You don't have to worry, cerbi was just welcoming me back." Thanatos continued pilling on words of reassurance to placate Marco.

Around three minutes of Thanatos calming down the flustered Marco ensured. Cerbi the massive cerberus was looking pointedly at Marco in the meantime. It felt extremely unjustified, all it did was welcome it owner.

Little did that good will go unrecognised but he got his back splayed out by the man his owner was now giving all his attention. The massive cerberus that could instil primordial fear in any mortal was now pouting like a spoilt child.

It was extremely jealous of how Thanatos, it's beloved master was ignoring him while 'showering' his attacker with his attention. Yes the massive beast was pouting dude to being ignored.

Something extremely surreal but normal for it and Thanatos, they were just that close. As they been through thick and thin together for thousands of years.

Marco was now simply stunned at what Thanatos was stating. He knew that the world of the gods was strange, but nothing this insane. A massive 'pet' scooping up it's owner in its maw while 'lovingly' bringing him back to its den?

The more Marco heard, the more he imagined Thanatos being prey instead of how pets' shower their owners with love. As thoughts on these lines kept playing in his head he asked Thanatos again.

"Are you sure that thing didn't make you hit your head?" Seeing the carefully manner which Marco asked him and the barbed words aiming at him made veins pulse on Thanatos's head. He knew that he wasn't in the right, but he also wasn't in the wrong.

Who was Marco to question his sanity? He was the god of death you know? Someone that was extremely feared, even in his own pantheon few dared to incur his wrath.

The worse part of this situation was that Marco was genuinely concerned for him. If he was being mocked he would retaliate but in this situation he could only sigh. How do you get mad of someone that genuinely cared for your well being?

He knew only children would do so that is why he held his tongue and once again explained his relationship with cerbi again.

Thanatos at this point just wanted to being training as he desperately wanted to vent his 'unjustified' frustrations that was building up due to Marco's concern and refusal to listen to his explanation even after stating the same thing multiple times.

Marco at that moment was still carefully observing Thanatos to make sure that no mental issues were cropping up. Be it due to PTSD for almost being eaten or plain losing his mind due to the beast.

But, as he glanced between Thanatos and the beast, he sighed. He saw how the beast was pointedly looking at him while trying its best to inch towards his owner. In the beginning Thanatos was around six hundred meters from cerbi.

But now, after quite the scooching cerbi inched his way to only being twenty meters from his master.
