Cades quickly flew to the long forgotten desert empire in which the demon of the forsaken resided and carefully landed on one of the forgotten, heavily weathered stone towers that were made to keep a watch over the outskirts of the ancient empire.
As he looked down from the ancient tower, his long, feathered cloak fluttering in the violent wind, from the top of the watchtower that had long since started to fall apart he could see something on the horizon that seemed more like a gigantic sandstorm than a golem.
He could see a being with brightly glowing, dark red eyes as big as large, round hula hoops with limbs consisting of sand tornadoes with no real physical consistency.
It towered over the castle, though it may now be ruined and weathered, just like the tower he now stood on.
The whole region was covered in sand and Cades could see that it was mainly caused by the demon of the forsaken as the sand was constantly dripping and falling down from its every movement.
The golem was incredibly big, it was even taller than the demon of the skies that Cades had battled before, with about 220 feet or 67 meters tall, without a face, a real hand or anything of the like.
Cades had no idea how he would ever be able to fight against this titanic goliath with how small he was, but he knew that he would have to prepare a plan first, luckily he had brought as many artificing materials with him as he could, which was everything he would need.
But then Cades saw another of these "golems" and his eyes widened in a realization.
The demon of the forsaken wasn't the golem, it was a artifact.
He had a wide grin on his face as he jumped down from the high tower with his feathered cloak flapping in the air once more, landed on the ground, and decided to find a place to rest and work on a suitable artifact for now.
Cades knew that he wouldn't be able to win against whatever rank that artifacts maker was, so he had to simply hide himself and destroy the artifact without fighting the "golems".
The artifact that he was going to have to create was a "invisibility" charm, a relatively easy artifact that bends the light around the wielder and lets them be completely invisible to the pure eye, or the detection capabilities of a golem that didn't have a magic sense.
And truly, after spending a few hours on the artifact he was already done, it worked by creating a tight shield around the body to disperse the aforementioned light.
When he was done he had quite the intricate earring, consisting of a long cylindrical onyx mana stone contained by a spiral bone and held on his ears with bony needles.
It required a lot of mana, but the current Cades should be capable of using it for up to eighteen whole hours, without a break.
The current Cades looked quite... fascinating.
Cades wore light brown garments with a light, dark armor on his upper body.
He had a black earring on his left ear that was mostly hidden by his long, black hair and wore a intricate onyx gauntlet on the right arm that went up to the end of his forearm and had one inch long claws at the end of each and every one of his fingers.
Other than that he wore a long feathered cloak that went up to slightly behind his feet when he walked and had a sharp hood, enchanted to even further hide his face ever so slightly.
On his waist he wore a belt made of brown tendons from a random fifth sequence monster on which he had fastened his bag of holding that had mostly dried and began turning brown, as well as a long, white sword that he had put into a darker scabbard he had made using another tooth of the demon of the skies and dyed black using the ashes left behind by the violent clash.
His once pale skin had now gained some colour, all be it not a lot and his once yellowish eyes had now changed their complexion to an unnatural violet tone.
The once majestic wings on his back had now turned patchy with the amount of feathers that were ripped of in each battle becoming more and more, too many to regenerate.
Completely regenerating ones feathers would take up to two whole years, although it would only take a few months in Cades case.
After he was finally done with the earrings he wanted to create one more tool to help him.
Cades took some of the sand, melted it into glass, turned it as clear as he could and created safety goggles to use in the battle, so that he wouldn't be blinded by the sand when he started his journey to wherever the artifact hid itself.
Finally, he started his second hunt.
Cades moved slowly, towards the ancient castle while taking care of evading the gigantic golems.
Over and over again he looked around but couldn't find out from where the golems were being controlled from, until he finally found where it had hidden itself.
The artifact was in the middle of the castle, inside a huge golem made of sand with actual consistency, it was quite similar to a gorilla in build, but much smaller than the others with only about 120 feet.
He hesitated for a few seconds but quickly decided to move forward.
There was a definite weak spot on the golem after all, a brightly burning light of mana that Cades could sense in the middle of the forsaken demons upper chest.
While thinking about the best way to defeat this towering opponent he quickly thought of one sure-fire way.
He would just have to bombard the golem with magic and other attacks until it lost its form and Cades could destroy the artifact.
Cades moved forward readying his spells and reaffirming his intention to redeem himself once more.
And finally he began flying up, toward the chest of the towering colossus.
