Their eyes met again, and for a brief moment, everything else seemed to fade away. A soft smile formed on Elena's lips, and she quickly looked away, trying to compose herself.
"You really do have a beautiful smile," Ford said, his voice warm and admiring.
Elena rolled her eyes playfully. "I don't understand why you keep complimenting me," she muttered. Then, unable to help herself, she added, "But… thank you."
Eager to change the subject, she gestured toward the food. "It's time to eat. I'm sure you're hungry," she said as she reached for a glass to pour him some water.
But as she turned, she suddenly froze. Her gaze fell to the floor, where shards of broken glass from the earlier incident still littered the ground. Her eyes widened in realization—the jug had shattered too.
"It looks like this place needs to be swept first," she murmured. "And we need a new jug for water. Let me call a nurse to clean this up."
