Chapter 72 - Chapter 68: Awakening

Gun exhaled as he pushed himself off the cracked concrete, rolling his shoulders as he looked at Jin with a newfound sharpness in his eyes. His breathing was steady, but his muscles screamed from the relentless exchange. He had fought countless opponents in this prison, crushed them without a second thought. But this was different.

Gun exhaled with his chest rising and falling steadily. "You're the strongest person I've fought." he said in an even tone. "But I've seen real monsters. I know what true strength is."

Jin tilted his head slightly, watching Gun carefully. "Yeah?" he responded, his lips barely twitching. "You're right. I'm not at the top yet." His fingers flexed, tightening into fists. "But it won't take long before I am."

Gun didn't wait. He lunged forward, his speed faster than before. His entire presence felt sharper, deadlier. Jin braced himself as Gun closed the gap in an instant, twisting his body mid-step to send a devastating right hook into Jin's ribs. The impact was brutal, forcing Jin's body to contort from the sheer force.

Before Jin could recover, Gun followed up, driving his knee into Jin's abdomen. The air was knocked from his lungs, and for the first time, Jin's body wavered. His muscles tensed as Gun seized the opportunity, gripping Jin's shoulder and throwing him over his hip with a perfectly executed Aikido move.

Jin hit the ground hard, the concrete cracking beneath him from the force of the throw. He barely had time to register the pain before Gun was on him again with his fist descending like a hammer toward Jin's face.

BAM!

Jin managed to twist his head, the punch grazing his cheek instead of caving it in. He retaliated with an elbow aimed at Gun's temple, but Gun caught his arm, using the momentum to flip Jin onto his back again.

'Tch... He's fast.'

Gun stepped back, giving Jin just enough room to rise. His stance had shifted once more, incorporating more than just Kyokushin Karate. His movements had changed, blending Kudo's brutal efficiency with the defensive counterattacks of Aikido.

Jin wiped blood from his mouth with his grin forming. 'He's getting stronger every second.'

Gun launched himself forward, his body twisting mid-air as he unleashed a spinning back kick. The attack connected squarely with Jin's sternum, sending him flying backward. His feet skidded across the ground as he struggled to stop his momentum.

Gun didn't let up. He dashed in, his right fist cocked back before slamming into Jin's cheek. Jin's head snapped to the side, but before he could react, Gun's knee shot up, crashing into his ribs.

BAM! BAM!

The force sent Jin staggering, blood spraying from his mouth. His vision blurred slightly, but he forced himself to stay upright.

Gun's reverse eyes locked onto Jin's movements, analyzing him. His footwork shifted again, and this time, he used Shotokan Karate, a style focused on precise, explosive attacks.

He dashed in again, this time using a feint. His left fist moved forward, baiting Jin into reacting. Jin's body tensed as he prepared to counter.

And in that instant, Gun's real attack came.

A devastating roundhouse kick, perfectly controlled, slammed into Jin's ribs, lifting him off the ground. Before Jin could land, Gun followed up with an uppercut, sending him airborne once again.

Gun's control over his attacks was frightening. He was hitting harder, faster, and more efficiently than before. His strikes weren't just powerful, they were calculated. Every attack was measured, ensuring maximum damage while minimizing wasted movement.

Jin crashed into the ground again, the concrete beneath him shattering on impact. He coughed, blood staining his prison uniform.

Gun stood tall, exhaling slowly. "You can't win." he said, his voice calm. "Not with just the strength you were born with."

Jin lay on the cracked ground, staring up at the vast sky above. His breathing was steady, but Gun's words lingered in his mind.

"The strength I was born with?" Jin muttered, his lips curling slightly. His memories flashed, months of relentless training, every punch thrown, every bone bruised, every setback endured. He had clawed his way to this level through sweat, blood, and sheer will. Closing his eyes for a brief moment, he exhaled, then placed his palm firmly on the concrete.

With a surge of raw power, he propelled himself into a single-hand handstand, his entire body balanced effortlessly. The moment was still, like the calm before a storm.

Then he moved.

His body twisted mid-air with unnatural precision, muscles coiling like a loaded spring. In an instant, his leg shot out like a whip, the ball of his foot cutting through the air. Gun barely had time to react before-

BAM!

Jin's talon kick connected squarely with the top of Gun's head. The sheer force sent a shockwave rippling through Gun's body as well a small shockwave below his head, his neck snapping downward as his knees buckled under the impact. His vision blurred for a split second, and a sharp ringing filled his ears.

Gun clenched his teeth with his foot slamming down to anchor himself, refusing to fall. His head throbbed, but he forced his body to move, driving a powerful straight punch toward Jin's face.

But Jin was already gone.

In the blink of an eye, he had shifted to Gun's side with his fist cocked back. A split second later-

BOOM!

A devastating uppercut crashed into Gun's abdomen.

Gun's entire body folded inward, his breath violently forced out of his lungs. His face twisted in sheer pain, veins bulging from his neck as his feet lifted off the ground with a bigger shockwave moving upwards.

For three long seconds, he hovered midair, weightless with his body struggling to process the sheer force of the strike.

But Gun was Gun.

His instincts kicked in, and before gravity could claim him, he twisted his torso sharply, redirecting his momentum. His legs snapped out in a spinning kick aimed at Jin's temple.

Jin's eyes narrowed.

With fluid ease, he caught Gun's ankle mid-motion, the force of the kick sending a sharp tremor up his arm. He felt the strength behind it, the raw, refined power of a prodigy in motion.

But it wasn't enough.

With a powerful twist of his own body, Jin yanked Gun through the air like a ragdoll before hurling him toward the prison wall.

Gun's body crashed into the reinforced concrete with a deafening BOOM, cracks splintering outward from the point of impact. Dust and debris filled the air as the force of the throw sent a violent tremor through the ground.

The entire yard fell silent.

Jin eyes narrowed as he watched Gun trying to push himself up from the cracked wall, the way he moved, it wasn't the stagger of a man barely holding on. It was different. The trembling in Gun's limbs wasn't from exhaustion. It was something else entirely.

Excitement.

Gun rolled his shoulders with the tension in his muscles easing as he took a slow, deep breath. His body was battered, his prison uniform torn and stained with sweat and blood, but his presence felt heavier than before. The air around him seemed to crackle with something raw, something wild.

Jin tilted his head, taking in the sight before him.

'This guy...'

Gun's fingers twitched, his breathing coming out in sharp exhales. His lips curled slightly, the smallest flicker of amusement playing on his face.

'Did I lose?' Gun though.

The thought surfaced, but it didn't sit right. His heart pounded violently against his ribs, not in fear, but something far more intoxicating.

'But what's this feeling?'

His eyes trailed to his own hands, the faintest tremor running through them. Every nerve in his body was on fire, pulsing with something unfamiliar. It wasn't just adrenaline. It was deeper than that.

Then, it clicked.

Gun slowly lifted his head, his black eyes gleaming with something wild.

'My heart's racing.'

Jin, now only a few feet away, paused at the shift in atmosphere. The silence between them was thick, heavy, but Gun's body refused to stay still.

"Huh?"

The sound escaped Gun as the realization struck. His body, despite the pain, refused to stop. It was begging for more.

'I'm having fun.'

Jin frowned slightly as he watched Gun press his hand against the ground, rising to his full height. His stance was looser than before, his movements fluid, as if a weight had been lifted off him.

Gun slowly begun to smile maniacally.

'A little more. A little more.'

Every fiber of his being was screaming for more. The battle wasn't enough. He needed to push further, to break past whatever was holding him back.

'It's thrilling.'

The sensation flooded his veins, drowning out the pain. His breath was ragged, but it only fed the fire inside him.

'I was just getting excited.'

Gun took a step forward. It wasn't rushed, nor was it reckless. It was precise, controlled, and filled with undeniable intent.

Jin's gaze sharpened.

'It's like my whole body's drenched.' Gun continued to feel his current state.

This feeling, it was unlike anything before. A new kind of high. A state beyond reason.

'This has never happened before.'

Gun let out a low, almost amused chuckle with his eyes brimming with pure exhilaration.

"OI."

Jin stopped, raising a brow at him.

Gun, breathing heavily, wiped the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand..

"Is this how everyone feels?"

Jin exhaled sharply through his nose, watching as Gun straightened his back.

Then, without warning, Gun gripped the fabric of his already torn prison uniform and..

RIP!

The sound of fabric tearing filled the silent prison yard as Gun tore his shirt clean off, exposing his bruised, sweat-slicked body. His muscles flexed beneath the sun with each movement radiating raw power.

Jin's eyes flickered to the growing crowd of inmates watching with wide eyes. The tension in the air was heavy for those weaker.

Gun rolled his shoulders, letting out a low chuckle.

"Let's kill each other."

The yard fell silent.

Jin stared at him, in a neutral expression, then, slowly, his lips curled, not in amusement, but in anticipation.

"Finally."

"Help me refine my body."
