Things were about to escalate. I had to intervene. I was locked up and couldn't get out, so I hoped my voice would be heard.
"Emily, calm down, okay? I want to calm down, okay?" I tried to say, but her eyes were blazing with anger at Nicholas.
"I've always known you weren't a good person," she spat. "I've heard so much about you, but I didn't believe it. Now, I'm starting to believe everything they say about you."
"You made Emily fall for you, and then you threw her away and locked her up for something she didn't even do," she stood up for me. I had never felt so grateful.
I wiped away tears and watched as she continued, "I won't ever forget this. I'll call my uncle now, and she'll be out of this place. If I were you, I'd back off and get her out of here without involving anyone."
He knew she was telling the truth, and if more people heard about this case, it would work in our favor. Especially since the inspector was Emily's uncle. I felt like luck was finally on my side.
