Amber lay on her bed, about to sleep, when she heard her door opening. She stared at the door, only to see Ethan. He was rubbing his eyes. He thought she had put him to sleep, so why was he awake?
"What's wrong?" she asked, concerned.
He walked to her on the bed. "I can't sleep, Mummy. Can I sleep here, please?"
She nodded. "Sure, come here." She picked him up and laid him on the bed.
"Did you have a bad dream?"
He nodded. "I saw a lion, Mummy. He was yelling at me."
She wanted to burst out laughing because lions don't yell; they growl. But she kept it to herself.
"Mummy is here to protect you, okay?"
He nodded. "Thanks, Mummy."
She kissed his forehead and pampered him to sleep. When she was sure he was asleep, she also fell asleep.
She had a lot to do at the office. She needed to go for a meeting first thing in the morning, and she wouldn't want to go late. This was her first time meeting them; it was a meeting with the minister.
