TWO DAYS LATER
Amber let out a groan. Ethan had brought a letter home. He would be having a ball competition on the same day she was supposed to meet Emily and her man. Now she didn't know what to do. She wondered why the timing would clash. She had promised Emily to be there at all costs, not knowing this would happen.
She kept staring at the paper, hoping a miracle would happen or something. She got up from her couch and made her way to the restroom. Amber got out a few minutes later, and her phone rang instantly. She went to her phone to see Emily on the phone.
She didn't know how she was going to do this, but it wouldn't hurt to pick up the phone. She answered, "Hey."
"What's up? You'll come tomorrow, right? I told him, and he's so excited to meet you. You'll love him, Amber," Emily said to Amber.
Now guilt covered her from head to toe. "I...I think I'm going to have to pass."
Emily went silent. She must be shocked at this revelation.
