{ Mia }
" What do you mean?!" I sighed frustrated.
" You can do anything I can and probably more ." He smirked.
" What ?!" Cole and I started at him in confusion.
He just chuckled. " Oh cupcake, there's so much you don't know yet." He shook his head and ruffled my hair.
" Then tell me !" I screamed frustrated.
" You'll find out soon enough. But not tonight. Now, let's get some rest. Don't want you to black out again." He warned pulling me by the arm.
~ nighttime ~
As soon as I drifted off, it felt like I was being pulled somewhere else somewhere familiar, yet distant.
I wasn't on the couch anymore. Instead, I was… sitting in class?
No, she was. My clone.
She was in my seat, tapping a pencil against my notebook, looking… kind of bored. I recognized the teacher at the front, droning on about something. Probably history. My clone didn't even try to take notes just nodded occasionally and pretended to pay attention.
Great. So much for keeping up in class.
The scene shifted.
Now, she was at lunch, sitting at my usual spot across from a group of classmates. Cole and Ace weren't there, obviously, since they were with me.
"So, Mia, you coming to the movie night this weekend?" someone asked.
My clone hesitated for half a second before nodding. "Uh, yeah, totally."
I groaned. No, you're not! What if I can't even show up?
"Cool," the girl grinned. "And hey, you seem different today. Less… intense."
My clone just laughed. "Guess I'm just having a chill day."
The girl shrugged, accepting the answer.
The dream shifted again.
Now, my clone was outside, walking across the school courtyard. She glanced at a soccer game happening nearby, hesitated, then… joined?!
I watched, stunned, as she ran around, laughing, kicking the ball something I never did because I was usually too busy, well considering she had nothing to do, it was normal.
' At least she's making friends.' I thought.
The dream shifted one last time.
Now, my clone was at home helping with chores quickly did 'my' homework and quickly went to bed.
Then, everything went dark and normal dreams started to flood my mind.
~ morning ~
I felt strong arms gripping my shoulders tightly. " Mia, Mia! Wake up !!"
I groaned. " What's wrong !!" I struggled to open my eyes.
" Mia! Are you alright?" Ace's voice cut through my thoughts.
" Yeah, yeah I'm fine!" I snapped.
Slowly opening my eyes a bright light blinded me.
" Ah Ace turn the lights off !" I asked.
" It's your hair Mia ." He sighed.
I jumped out if bed opening my eyes. " What ?!"
" Calm down Mia !" He ordered concern molded on his face.
I breathed. ' in and out in and out '
Slowly my hair strands fell back down on my shoulders and stopped glowing.
" What happened?"
" You were having a nightmare cupcake." He hugged me tightly. Ruffling my hair.
Ace's arms were still around me, his grip firm but not crushing. I could feel his heartbeat—steady, controlled. Mine, on the other hand, was racing.
I swallowed hard. "That wasn't a nightmare," I muttered.
Ace pulled back slightly, his brows furrowed. "Your hair was glowing, Mia. That only happens when—"
"I know," I interrupted. I ran a hand through my hair, making sure it was back to normal. "But I wasn't scared. At least… not in the way you think."
Cole, who had been watching from the doorway, leaned against the frame. "Alright, then what did happen? 'Cause from out here, it sounded like you were freaking out in your sleep."
I took a deep breath, trying to piece it together. "I saw my clone—"
Ace pulled back slightly, studying me with an unreadable expression. "So, you saw what your clone was doing all day?"
I nodded. "Yeah. It wasn't like a dream… it was like I was there, going through everything she did. Like I was her."
Cole crossed his arms. "Wait, hold up. So, you were asleep here, but at the same time, you were living a whole other day as your clone?"
"Pretty much." I ran a hand through my hair. "She went to my classes, ate lunch, played soccer, did homework just normal stuff."
Ace hummed in thought. 'Interesting."
I frowned. "That's all you have to say? Interesting?"
"Well, yeah," he smirked. "I figured you'd be able to make a clone, but I didn't think you'd be linked to it."
Cole blinked. "Wait you knew she could do this?"
Ace shrugged. "It was a theory."
I groaned, dragging a hand down my face. "Ace, you could've told me!"
He chuckled. "Where's the fun in that?"
Cole rolled his eyes. "Okay, but real talk why can she see what the clone does? I thought it didn't have powers."
Ace sat on the edge of my bed, rubbing his chin. "It doesn't. But the fact that Mia's connected to it means it's not just some puppet it's a real extension of her."
I hesitated. "So… what does that mean?"
Ace's smirk widened. "It means we definitely need to test this."
I groaned. "Of course it does."
Cole clapped his hands together. "Alright, then let's test it later. I'm starving."
Ace chuckled. "Fine. But after breakfast, Mia, we're seeing just how far this link goes."
I flopped back onto my pillow. "Great. More training."
Ace ruffled my hair. "Better get used to it, cupcake. You're just getting started."
