Isadora's eyes trembled as the memory of that night clicked in. The swirls of conflicting emotions drowned her mind.
What she felt when she tried to ease him. The burden living inside his head and the presence was unnatural.
Isadora looked away, unable to pause the chaotic feeling twisting her lower stomach. She chewed the inside of her mouth to redirect the sensation, but she only felt heavier and her shoulders dropped.
"You're right," she mumbled, tone heavy and shaky, choking between the gnawing realization. "He's not a beast I can tame." She rose to her feet.
Rav's expression turned regretful. He had aimed to say that so she wouldn't have stupid ideas like trying what she did with the sigil beast. It would only backfire and cost her life.
"Isa…" he began softly, reaching to take her hand but she took a step back. A foreign pain in his chest came to the surface at that mere action.
She looked like a scared little creature retreating away from danger.
Was she afraid of him?
