"Are you cold, love?"
At the familiar gravelly voice, Isadora's blood ran cold. Her eyes moved quickly to the chair by the window.
There was a presence there—an unwelcome one.
'Kraven,' Isadora thought as she swallowed a lump in her throat.
The night lights barely reached him, reflecting only on his boots and parted thighs.
He sat there relaxed like he owned the room, this gave Isadora the strong impression that he'd been there for a while, waiting only for the right time to announce his presence.
"I could've offered to warm you up but…" He paused as if thinking about his options. "I'm tempted to strangle you too."
"And I'll return the favor by ensuring we both greet Daudi together."
He laughed, the rich sound ringing through the room and causing a mix of sensations to storm her body.
His silver eyes stared right through the darkness. "Darling, I escaped Daudi's Hand. What makes you think I won't the second time? It's easy to cheat death."
