Ben's eyes widened. 'What the hell?'
BOOM!
The ground beneath him erupted, chunks of earth and fungal roots flying in every direction. Venom shot upward, tail-first, aiming straight for his throat.
Ben barely twisted his body in time—Slash! The jagged tip sliced across his side, deep enough to draw a spray of blood. Pain flared, but he didn't let it slow him down. His body was already moving, already countering.
His arm morphed mid-motion, muscle twisting, chitin folding in on itself—becoming a jagged, barbed spear. "Nice trick—let's see you dodge THIS!"
BAM!!
His spear slammed straight through Venom's midsection, impaling it against the trunk of a towering mushroom tree.
The creature shrieked, limbs flailing as venom spilled from its wound. Its six eyes locked onto him, flickering between rage and panic. Ben's grin was all fangs. "Not so slippery now, are you?"
He twisted the spear deeper, feeling the grind of chitin against chitin.
