This day has been really uneventful up until now...
I had my required classes with Crowbell, and my first ever monster learning class. I was slightly surprised to see that Enyoll's also the teacher for that subject.
So it'd be a good move to get on his good side as he's my teacher for two subjects.
In regards to Kafka, not only is he giving us more things to study than other classes, he repeats himself so much.
If it wasn't for the fact that he's still butthurt over what happened the other day, I'd probably be having an easier time on his class.
At least I'm able to eat food along with Fran without anything bad happening.
The next big event should be...
*SLAM*
A tall student with a blue hair mohawk slamed the table where Fran and I were peacefully eating.
"I've finally found you! I'll make sure you pay for what you did!!" Blue hair, mohawk, there's only one guy that looks like that in Aurum Academy.
"I Ximuss Yolte challenge you, Alen, the guy that has disrespected me the most, to a duel!!" he was the previous rank twenty in class S, now rank first of class A.
Duels between students can be spectated by anyone and it's the fastest method to obtain points.
"Nah, I'm not interested in wasting my time on duels" I'd also prefer to keep my tricks a secret.
"Do you have no shame? A true knight is challenging you to a duel and you won't accept" he let out a simple laugh with the objective of mocking me.
"I guess that's to be expected from someone that bribed his way into S class, you don't want to lose your precious place in your ranking"
It doesn't matter what you say, I win nothing from fighting you, even points aren't a reward I'm looking for right now.
"Are you mentally challenged?" I choke at the question posed by Fran.
Ximuss steps back, noticing my friend was using that ice-cold tone of hers.
"Do you truly think the prestigious Aurum Academy would accept bribes?" She stood up giving the guy that challenged me to a duel a deadly stare.
"He isn't even from a noble family , he can't even dream about bribing someone" she scoffed "Only someone whose brain developed incorrectly would believe such idiotic rumours"
I tried to hold my laugh by covering my mouth with my hand.
"Uh... that doesn't matter, he still caused damage to me, and I swore I'd make him pay for it" he tried going against the inmense pressence Fran had.
"He's crazy if he thinks he can go against the guy who befriended princess Von Themys"
"I heard Alen can cast at least ten high tier spells at once"
"I've seen him go toe-to-toe against Cecil Treyaro"
The crowd that formed around us started whispering to themselves.
"I think this duel is a great idea actually" a voice made his way through the crowd.
Who came out of it is...
"Who are you?" Black hair, bangs that cover his eyes, eyeglasses... no, I've got nothing.
He flinched
"What do you mean by that. I'm Herdon Teriris, the current rank nineteen of the S class"
"That name sounds awfully familiar..."
"No shit it sounds familiar. I'm in your same class!!"
Nono, from somewhere else.
"You know what? Forget it." He pushed back his glasses.
"I personally think this duel would be a great idea. Don't you think Alen?"
If he's from ckass S then... that means that he should be playable...
"Are you... you're not even listening to me..."
"If he doesn't care about what you have to say, then why should we care?" Fran tried to make Herdon go away to stop him from embarrasing himself.
*sigh* "Oh no, you care princess Themys. Just like how we all care about this duel" he seems to have abandoned the possibility of talking with me.
"You see, Alen's become a bit of a celebrity between us on the first year. We all want to know what he's capable of"
"I do want to see what makes him special to our teachers"
"He fought amazing against Cecil but... I heard he didn't use his full strength on those fights"
"Well... they were trainings after all"
Herdon Teriris...
"And I'm sure you're no different, princess" glasses pointed at me "What is so good about him that the biggest prodigy in all history, Hellen Goldenlaw, got so interested in him?"
Fran looked at me, understanding the point Herdon was making. She couldn't refute what he said.
"That's why... Alen, accept our duel, Ximuss and me against you!!"
"Now I remember who you are!"
...
Herdon Teriris, a mediocre mage, I'd put him on D tier. Just like every other S class student, he can be recruited starting the mid-game. He offers you nothing new that any other mage you had before and will have could offer. You only use him to fill up the spots on your team.
...
"You were still with that!!??" The crowd couldn't believe I ignored him comoletely.
"I've seen you around the academy"
"OF COURSE YOU'VE SEEN ME, I'M YOUR CLASSMATE!!!" His glasses fell, and Fran laughed.
"Fighting a two-on-one fight? Are you crazy?" Did he truly think I'd accept?
"It seems there's nothing you can do peasant" my friend walked next to me, signaling me with her head to leave this place.
"I'm not a peasant!"
"Whait!!! You can't deny me this duel. Duels can be declined if they're from two different classes, or if the difference is way too big, but same class duels by similar rank students have to always be accepted!" Herdor used his last resource to make me accept his duel.
And he was right, in-game this worked as a way to quickly make your way up the ranks.
"Rank nineteen wants to challenge rank eighteen, and rank one class A will want to challenge class S rank twenty, and because you'll be rank nineteen, you'll have to accept Ximuss' duel"
This is annoying.
"Then, Herdor Teriris, I accept your challenge" there's sadly nohing else I can do.
"Then why don't we go to the arena right now?"
"Hey this wasn't part of our deal" oh yea, mohawk guy is still here.
"Don't worry, once I win against him, you can have your fight to earn back your spot" he laughed, knowing he succesfully took advantage of poor mohawk guy.
"I can't believe how disrespectful they are to their superiors" Fran crossed her arms and puffed her cheeks.
"Haha. I think it's funny" we started walking to the arena. "Hey glasses! Present our duel to any teacher, we'll be waiting for you"
"At least It's reassuring to know that you're this calm"
"He won't be worse than what I've already fought against"
"Is it true that you've cleared more than one hundred dungeons?"
"Low level goblin dungeons. But yes, apparently"
"Apparently?"
"It seems so"
_____________
Now in the changing room on the arena, I need to decide what speels I want to use.
I still haven't learned any new spell, which makes sense as this is only my third day here.
I chanted the incantations for strong [Sandstorm] neutral [Wind Scythe] strong [Wind Ram] and neutral [Sandstorm]
Now that I've left those reserved...
Herdor is a mage, that already makes him weak against close combat fights, not even the Mage class passives can help him.
His unique passive is [Adrenaline] which makes his attacks stronger if he has less than twenty-five percent of health.
Unique passives are unique to units not classes, so multiple characters can have the same unique passive. For example, he shares his unique passive with Liana and Zagressa.
Some unique passives are truly unique though, like Hellen Goldenlaw's [Great Sage's eye.] She's the only one that has it.
He'll probably try to keep his distance and cast his magic.
If I remember correctly, he has water, fire and earth affinity with a really nice mana amount to cast multiple spells. None of his affinities are extremely high though.
____________
Unlike my previous fights in the arena, where the ring was small due to the nature of training, this time the area we had to fight in was larger.
I can see that almost every first year student is here to see our duel.
On the right I could see who was the teacher that'll look over our fight.
It was Rick Tramer...
"Tch" he immediately clicked his tounge as soon as he saw me enter the my side.
On the other side I could see Herdor, also wearing the sports uniform.
"I, teacher Rick Tramer, have been selected to overlook the duel between students Herdor Teriris and... Alen, both from S class" I could hear that when he said my name he said it with an angrier tone.
"According to Aurum Academy's duel rules, both participants get fifteen seconds at the start of the match to cast a spell if they so desire. None of the participants are allowed to move until those fifteen seconds pass"
"Start!!"
"Unshatering rocks, used by everyone to protect whatever we percieve as precious to us. Grant me an advantage by creating pilars that are..."
"A tier two earth spell!!"
"Is the level that high on the S class?"
"Look! Alen isn't casting!!"
"What!! He has a unique magic ability. Why isn't he using it?"
"What's your plan Alen?" Fran, who was expecting a lot from this fight, didn't understand what I was doing.
"Heugk" he bit his tounge while chanting.
"You!!"
"Your fifteen seconds are over!!"
"Not only do you disrespect me by forgetting my existance. You directly mock me in our duel!!" While I couldn't see it, he probably had a vein popping on his forehead due to anger.
"I'll make you pa-"
"I'll let you cast your spell, as an apology for making you bite your tongue" if I win this fight, I'll probably advance one rank, making me immune to fights for a season or two.
"This cocky behaviour of yours will be your demise"
"What's your plan Alen?"
