Chapter 152 - Ch 152 : Death

Samui and Mabui walked swiftly through the chaotic mess of Konoha's prison.

All the cell doors had been broken.

While a few prisoners remained in their cells even with the doors wide open, most had already vanished without a trace.

They had no time to care about this and hurried straight to the deepest part of the dungeon, where they found Yugito lying unconscious on the ground.

The two of them rushed over and lifted her up.

"Yugito, wake up."

Yugito stirred, furrowing her brows, muttering softly, "Lord Raikage... I'm not a traitor... Dad, Mom... I'm not a traitor..."

Samui and Mabui exchanged glances, a heavy expression appearing in both of their eyes.

Both of them had families back in Kumogakure.

Samui had a younger brother, and Mabui still had her mother living in the village.

"Samui... Mabui..."

Yugito woke up, opening her eyes to see the two of them.

Then she suddenly sat up, gasping and clutching the back of her neck.

"Where's Lord Raikage?" she asked.

Samui replied, "He's causing large-scale destruction in Konoha."

Yugito froze for a moment. "He didn't escape from here?"

She had come here at great personal risk, disregarding the previous misunderstandings, to set Raikage free.

All she wanted was for him to return to Kumogakure.

Even if he couldn't take her with him, it would be enough if he could clear her name so that her parents could live peacefully in the village.

Samui spoke slowly, "Yugito, you probably don't know yet... The Fifth Raikage has already taken office. The Fourth should have already been informed of this by the Konoha shinobi."

Yugito asked in a daze, "Who is the Fifth?"

"It's Lord Killer Bee."

Killer Bee wasn't really suited to be Raikage, but at this moment, Kumogakure needed someone to take charge or at least serve as a symbol to reassure the people.

In that regard, Killer Bee was quite appropriate.

Samui had also learned this news from Makoto.

She whispered, "The Fourth... probably doesn't plan to leave."

He wanted to die here.

Previously, she had harbored disdain and resentment toward the Raikage, but now, her heart was filled with respect and sorrow.

Yugito sat on the ground in a daze.

After a long while, she let out a bitter laugh.

"I see..."

Was it her fault that the Raikage had come to this? No, not exactly.

Perhaps she had just given him an escape.

But who would give her an escape?

Yugito covered her face with both hands.

.......

Bang!

The door to the room was violently kicked open, startling the mother and child huddled in the corner.

A man stood at the entrance, still dressed in a prisoner's uniform, wielding a kunai.

His face twisted into a savage expression the moment he saw the two.

"Konoha... heh... Konoha... all of you must die! All of you must die!"

Like a madman, he charged straight at the mother and child.

The child was frozen in fear, and the mother instinctively screamed, desperately shielding her child behind her.

Thud!

The room suddenly fell silent.

There was no kunai from the prisoner.

When they opened their eyes, they saw the man lying in a pool of blood.

"Are you alright?"

A voice suddenly rang out.

They turned to see a young man with pineapple-like hair and a scar on his face.

Fortunately, he was wearing a Konoha headband.

"Are you... Lord Shikaku?" the woman asked nervously, still shaken.

"It's not safe at home right now. Head to the shelter; our village's ninja will escort you."

"Oh... okay!" The woman nodded hurriedly.

Shikaku added, "Don't worry, Minato will defeat the enemy soon."

The woman lit up with joy. "Lord Minato is fighting the enemy? Then everything will be fine! Lord Minato will definitely win!"

After sending the woman off, Shikaku stood on the deserted street and exhaled deeply.

He had already rescued many people, always mentioning Minato to reassure them that Minato would defeat the enemy.

In truth, handling a prison riot of this scale wasn't difficult.

With all the Konoha ninja mobilized, the chaos could be quickly contained.

But given the current situation, it was necessary for the villagers to feel a certain level of danger.

"Shikaku-senpai, all the villagers on the north street have been evacuated," a ninja called down from the rooftop.

"Got it. Thank you for your hard work," Shikaku replied.

As he turned to leave, he suddenly realized that someone had appeared behind him without him noticing.

The presence made his heartbeat skip a beat.

"Lo... Lord Hokage," Shikaku's eyes widened as he stared at Orochimaru standing before him.

"Shikaku." Orochimaru looked at him calmly.

"You've worked hard."

"... It's my duty for the village," Shikaku quickly responded, assuming Orochimaru was referring to his efforts in evacuating the villagers.

At the same time, he was puzzled.

Why was Orochimaru here? The commotion caused by the Raikage was significant—Shikaku had heard the sound of buildings collapsing from far away.

Why hadn't Orochimaru gone to deal with Raikage?

"I'm not talking about that," Orochimaru said coldly.

"I'm talking about all the things you've done for Minato."

His serpent-like pupils were filled with indifference.

Unlike his usual deep and sinister gaze, this expression revealed an emotional wasteland—a complete loss of interest in something.

Shikaku's pupils contracted sharply, and his mind went blank with a deafening roar.

He knows everything...

"You've completely disappointed me," Orochimaru said slowly. "I've given you so much time, and this is the outcome?"

Shikaku couldn't comprehend what Orochimaru was referring to.

His thoughts were in complete disarray, unsure of what to do next.

How should he respond to Orochimaru's words? Deny, feign weakness, and stall for time?

Why had Orochimaru come to find him now? Was he planning to kill him?

As that thought flashed through his mind, a sudden sharp pain exploded in his chest.

A razor-sharp blade had pierced through his body.

Shikaku's body stiffened as he turned his head back in disbelief.

Another Orochimaru stood there, gripping the Kusanagi sword, which had pierced through his chest and sliced through his heart.

"Ho... Hokage..."

His throat quivered, but he could only utter a single word.

Without wasting another word, Orochimaru pulled the sword out, indifferently watching as Shikaku collapsed to the ground.

Seeing that Shikaku seemed to be on the verge of taking his last breath, Orochimaru murmured softly to himself, "Still not coming out, huh?"

Shikaku felt his consciousness growing increasingly faint.

In that fleeting moment, countless thoughts and memories flashed through his mind.

Two figures stood out the most—one was Minato.

The other was a black-robed figure shrouded in darkness.

Am I... dying? Minato...

Why...? Wasn't I supposed to assist the chosen one?

Minato, when will you become Hokage...?

Minato...

In his final moments, Shikaku uttered only one name.
