Chapter 94 - 94. Mimosa's perspective

Today had been an eventful day.

It started in the morning when Mimosa had been approached by a senior, someone who usually seemed to have a stick up their as-- well, at least, they always looked grumpy every time she saw them.

She was shocked that they were going to explore a dungeon!

A FREAKING dungeon of all things!

It really seemed weird and somewhat suspicious to her that a newbie like her, along with another newbie, was going on this seemingly important mission.

Yes, they had recently gotten a star from the Wizard King.

Yes, they were newbies. But come on, this was still unbelievable to her.

Though they had a senior with them, in the grand scheme of things, that senior wasn't really that powerful. In fact, Mimosa herself had confidence that she had a decent enough chance to beat him.

She suspected that the other newbie, Yuno, could also do the same.

'Then again, what are the chances that something will go wrong? Even if the dungeon is near the border, Diamond Kingdom won't be reckless enough to act with the army near their border. That is, if they get the information somehow. No wonder they are sending us for the mission.' Mimosa hadn't thought much about it before the mission.

She had been a bit surprised that her cousin, who had joined the Black Bulls, was also given the same mission.

But she didn't think much about it and went along with the mission.

So, it was natural for her to be shocked when she found out that she had to fight a Vice-Captain-level freak!

She even entertained the thought that she had tempted fate earlier for this situation to happen.

She was somehow able to beat the guy with her teammates, along with her cousin's team.

What surprised her the most in that fight was that ash-blondie's magic.

Anti-Magic!

'What an overpowered magic! He doesn't seem to have an ounce of mana inside his body, which is kind of a boon in this situation. His body had adapted to living without mana and thus is able to naturally withstand the force the mana in nature exerted on him, making him stronger.

Normally, every being has some amount of mana, which does help in withstanding the pressure from mana in the environment, but due to his unusual case, his body had just become stronger instead. It's very similar to why it's dangerous to be at a higher depth in an ocean without mana reinforcement, as that could kill you.

No wonder he could travel at speeds faster than me even without mana; no normal human could do it.'

Mimosa, due to her medical background, instantly recognized the anomaly the individual named 'Asta' was.

'Though, reaching this level wouldn't be possible without the amount of training he had gone through. No wonder he is determined.'

Mimosa looked through the treasury. Initially, it was kind of surreal to see so much gold and jewelry, but due to her royal lineage, it didn't attract her much.

"Uhh, why today?" Mimosa groaned as she looked at the guy whom she had defeated rise up again with new magic in tow.

'Didn't Klaus lock him up? And why does he know fire magic? Has it become easier to learn magic from new attributes these days?' Mimosa sighed in exasperation as she remembered one of her reckless friends.

'I hope he isn't doing something dangerous with the recovery magic I taught him.'

What happened next was a one-sided slaughter, and unexpectedly, Mimosa's group was able to win due to her teammate getting a sudden power-up out of nowhere.

'We are finally sa-' Mimosa's eyes widened as, even before she could complete her thought, she was pulled back by Noelle as she barely dodged a giant piece of debris falling from above.

Mimosa tried to remember who she had seen first in the morning for her to go through this trashy day.

She received another shock when she saw one of her friends whom she hadn't seen for more than two months show up here.

She had many things to talk to him about and many things to ask him, but she knew that now was clearly not the time.

'Maybe I will talk to Leopold about scheduling a meeting; it's been a while since we all three talked. Noelle is also invited, I guess...' She thought as she reached the surface with her group.

She just observed the red-haired girl, who was clearly very strong, chatting with their group and occasionally giving her own input.

Her ears perked up when she heard "boss" from Erza's mouth.

'Is she referring to Akeru by that title? Though it does make sense, given Akeru's combat prowess, it still feels weird.' Mimosa was weirded out by that.

She curiously scanned Erza with her eyes, this time more thoroughly.

'WAIT! Don't tell me they have "that" kind of relationship! No, no, Akeru isn't like that... But what if she was the one who took the lead...?' Mimosa's mind was filled with inappropriate thoughts about her friend.

Her face had already reddened due to the embarrassment she was feeling from her thoughts.

Akeru soon came up, and it relieved her that he seemed to be the same as the last time she saw him; at least his antics seemed to be the same.

'Oh, he is sleep-deprived; no wonder he seems annoyed. He really loves his sleep. Though it looked like he had gotten better at making a poker face, Mimosa instantly saw through him.

'Though, I must ask him for all the "details" of his mission to make sure that he didn't suffer anything unexpected. It's my duty as his good friend,' Mimosa thought with a serious expression.

Akeru's instinct warned him as he felt a bad feeling about Mimosa's statement.

They started walking until Mimosa heard a sound behind her.

Mimosa wasn't expecting the day to get any worse.

For the nth time that day, she felt a greater shock than anything she had experienced up to that point.

Mimosa was still in shock, so what happened next was completely instinctual.

She wasn't sure, but she heard somebody scream.

However, that thought didn't even last for a fraction of a second in her mind as she found herself kneeling beside Akeru's figure, already inspecting his body.

'Fuck! Not only has his heart already stopped, but also, most of the organs have stopped working due to no blood going into them. Normally, skilled knights like Akeru could easily move their blood at will with mana, but it looks like before his heart gave out, he lost consciousness, which led to this,' Mimosa analyzed his body in an instant.

'The muscles around his heart are weird, but I will address that later.'

Her appearance had already changed, which was quite fitting to her royal image, but she didn't even pay it a fraction of her attention.

Currently, she could feel her heart beating very quickly, adrenaline coursing through her veins.

'Blunt, he was hit by a blunt force, or more likely whatever the attack was, his mana skin blocked it such that it was only blunt damage. It seems whatever happened was quick enough for him to not employ Seraph's Shell and withstand it with his mana skin. The attack was targeted at his heart, seeing by how many ruptures in muscles...'

Mimosa's mana flowed through his body as she started moving his blood towards his brain.

'Normally, I still could heal him flawlessly even if his heart stopped completely while he is losing blood at a very quick rate as I would at least have a 5-minute window. But he had also faced blunt trauma from the back of his head, which probably led to loss of consciousness.

This also led to his Medulla Oblongata being damaged considerably. This instantly led to blood flowing to his brain being stopped completely. Most of his brain has already died out.'

Mimosa bit her lip as she stopped the blood flowing out of whatever was left of his arm and focused on healing his brain.

'I am unsure if I could heal him or not.' Mimosa accepted the fact, which she had noticed even before she started healing him but refused to accept until now.

It reminded her of the time nearly half a year ago when Akeru was in a similar shape.

She wasn't capable of healing him properly even at that time.

After that, she worked on her skills like no tomorrow so that she wouldn't need to feel the same feeling again.

Teaching Akeru was just a side-quest that proved useful to her to reorganize her thoughts and to find any gaps in her current skill set.

Even after her admission to Golden Dawn, she hadn't stopped her previous routine.

So... why is she feeling even worse than half a year ago?

Why does it feel that her situation hasn't changed compared to half a year ago?

Mimosa's fist clenched.

Suddenly, her grimoire shone.
