Vincent glanced up at him, his face a pitiful mess of tear-streaked cheeks. "When Enzo found out I had been spying on him a while back, he outright told me that the girl was his fiancée."
Andrei's brow lifted slightly, but he said nothing.
"And ever since then," Vincent continued, "I've been lying to Lord Damien about them. I just couldn't bring myself to tell him the truth because I know what he's capable of." He let out a trembling breath. "I was so scared. I thought you would tell him the truth back there, because… Well, it's Damien."
An involuntary scoff escaped Andrei, and he shook his head, his grip on Vincent tightening reassuringly. "I would never reveal anything about Enzo's personal life to anyone without his permission. No matter who they are."
Vincent's shoulders sagged in relief as if a weight had been lifted from his chest.
