As he walked past them, heading deeper into the building, Enzo scoffed in mild annoyance. He reached for Adeline's hand, intertwining their fingers before leading her after the CEO. She glanced at him but said nothing, simply squeezing his hand lightly in return.
They were led into a spacious office, modern like the rest of the building. The CEO moved to sit behind his large desk and gestured for them to take the two chairs opposite him.
As he pulled open a drawer and began searching for the receipts, his phone rang. Pausing, he glanced at the screen before offering them a tight-lipped smile. Raising a finger, he said, "Give me a minute."
