"Ok, let me skip straight to the main show, let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, okay!" he spoke as he stretched out his hand.
"Are you readyyyy!"
"…"
I couldn't help but cackle as I heard him speak.
'How on earth is he allowed to be a teacher?' I thought, amused by how funny it actually seemed.
Then he began explaining the exam, telling us about the point system and how it worked.
He also spoke about the division of battle sectors, how they ranged from A to G and the requirements to pass the test.
"Excuse me, sir, but I have a question," a large boy below spoke out.
Seeing him made me smile for a second because his voice instantly revealed who he was—Tenya Iida.
He then asked about how the paper said there would be four types of robot villains, but Present Mic only listed three.
As I expected, he pointed at Midoriya, speaking about how he had been making noise the entire time.
Unfortunately for me, he and Midoriya were sitting too far below, so I couldn't get a proper glimpse of them.
Present Mic, hearing the boy, couldn't help but comment on his observation.
He thanked him for bringing it up and explained how the fourth villain robot would be a zero-pointer that didn't need to be defeated, suggesting we avoid it or run if seen.
"Thank you very much, please continue," Tenya said, his voice dripping with pride and arrogance as he sat down and regained focus.
The people around me couldn't help but think of the test as a video game, imagining how the whole exam would focus only on acquiring points.
Some of them even thought it would be easy.
"That's all I've got for you today, but I'll sign off with a little present, a sample of our school motto," Present Mic spoke. "A true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes, mhm, now that's a tasty soundbite."
"…"
"You ready to go beyond?" he continued, raising his arms dramatically. "Let's hear a PLUS ULTRA!"
"…"
It was silent, but that seemed to have little effect on the mic hero descending off-stage.
Looking down, I opened my card, checking the station I'd be assigned to.
To my surprise, as if sensing the danger of my presence, I got the very last station
—Station G.
I didn't know if anyone from the canon was in that station, but I didn't care.
As long as I wasn't in the same station as Midoriya, I felt it would be fine.
To my knowledge, I didn't want anyone from the canon to fail because of my involvement.
At least this way, if someone didn't pass, I wouldn't have to feel any guilt.
_________~[30 minutes later]
Standing near a large gate, students surrounded me, making sounds and joyous noises.
Yet most, if not many, were silent.
Why? Well, why not?
This was the real world, where survival depended only on luck.
It's either you were lucky enough to be born with a strong quirk and could succeed with effort, or you were born as one of the rest—weak, and no matter what you did, no matter the effort you put in, you would always lose because the privileged exist.
Always lose because of natural selection.
Always lose because of… evolution.
Through their voices, I could hear their nervous complaints.
Some of them, so unfortunate they couldn't be considered human—born with the faces of creatures, bodies of stone, and substances unknown.
Some, whose bodies were so mutated it wouldn't be a stretch to call it a disability.
Oh, how unfortunate it was.
But my heart, as if unaffected by their misfortune, as if immune to feelings of sympathy, remained stone, remained untouched.
A reflection of my glowing eyes of red—
eyes that reflected a soul of the wicked,
a soul cruel, vile… evil.
A soul that felt… nothing.
______
RUMBLE!
The gate opened, everyone was on alert.
"Get moving!!" we heard Present Mic shouting from afar. "There aren't no countdowns in real battle, run run run!"
We couldn't see him clearly due to the distance, but everyone understood the assignment.
In a flash, everyone was gone.
But it didn't matter.
None of it mattered, because from the moment Present Mic spoke,
From the moment he made the faintest sound,
I had vanished.
Yet no one saw.
No one even saw the wind,
The resistance of air friction.
It was as if I didn't exist,
as if I hadn't been present, to begin with,
as if I had disconnected from reality.
______
KKKKKKKKRASH!!!
The sound of a robot hitting ground rang out.
It was loud, very loud.
The students who had started running stopped, looking ahead with eyes of pure shock.
The robotic villain—its giant body lay on the floor, resembling a corpse.
Yet on top of it, stood a tall, masculine child.
His back faced them, so they could only see his muscles.
His legs impaled the robot's chest as if it were made of a soft substance.
His hands transformed into some type of dark claws,
moved so fast they could barely be perceived by those with good instincts.
TKTKTK-TKKK-K'THK!!!
Digging into the robot's head repeatedly, ripping out all within seconds.
The head was so weak it didn't even take two attacks.
Even though everyone knew the robot was already done for,
even if the person doing it knew that too, he didn't stop.
He kept on impaling until the head was completely shattered—no, left as something that didn't even deserve to be considered scrap.
It was left as nothing.
With each of his strikes, the ground below dug deep.
And when he was finished as if done announcing his presence,
he launched himself upward.
His legs, so strong, they lifted him fifteen feet into the air.
And through the eyes of all those watching,
Through the eyes of all those students who forgot what they were here for,
He was gone.
As if he had never been there.
As if he didn't exist.
As if… Monster.
