Chapter 36 - SEND IN THE ZERO POINTERS?

.

~~~~~~~~[START]
---
"Almost all of them have been wiped out," a man spoke, standing beside a computer.
"If we don't send in another group, time will run out soon, and the students in that section will be left with nothing to almost zero points."
Surrounded by lots of seen and known faces,
"Then send in another," someone else replied but was later interrupted.
"No, it's too dangerous," another voiced. "If we send in another section, it might risk an overload.
The last thing we want is for students to be surrounded by robotic villains just because one person is executing the rest."
"Then what can be done…"
"Send in a section," Nezu interrupted, his hands balancing his face as he fixed his gaze on only two screens in front of him.
One screen showed Midoriya, who appeared to be struggling.
The other screen displayed a child whose movements were so rapid that even the screen struggled to keep up, with robots falling from left to right in a chaotic blur.
"But only send in half," Nezu added.
"What about the child?" someone asked. "He's already almost killed all of them.
What gives us the impression that he won't do the same to the rest?"
"Divert his attention," Nezu said.
The heroes looked at each other with stunned faces as Nezu spoke those words.
"Release the zero pointers," he commanded.
"I'm on it," the man sitting near the screen replied, but then he hesitated. He felt as if he were hearing things. "The zero pointers?" he asked again, puzzled.
But Nezu, as if frenzied by the child, slightly giggled. The giggles were so faint that some in the room mistook them for a mere smile.
But only the heroes with the strongest senses could feel it.
It was too evident.
Nezu showed interest.
---
RRRRRRRUMMMMMBLE!!!
Another fell, but Ken kept running.
His pace was fast, too fast.
Only blurs could be felt as he moved forward.
He was greedy, too greedy.
Maybe this was because he didn't recognize anyone in the section.
Maybe that's why he didn't care.
If they were going to fail anyway, what was the point of holding back?
Running with speeds unnatural, he jumped upward to the wall.
His pace so quick that it felt as if he were defying the laws of gravity,
He ran sideways on the wall as if his feet were glued to it.
Leaping in for the other,
He maintained that pace whenever he felt the need for greater momentum.
Then he spotted them—
Three robots moving as one.
Stretching out his hand while his pace stayed the same,
He created a single ball of liquid metal.
It shone unnaturally black, and it measured the size of a gumball.
Then, without hesitation, he jumped down from the wall that suspended him sideways and fell to the ground.
Then, holding the ball and taking the stance of a pitcher—
ZZZZZZZZZIIIIIP!!!
The ball began moving.
Although it was small, it moved with the friction of air, as if strong force wasn't the only thing it was forced to induce.
Yet, before it could reach the robots, just five feet away from them,
Ken lifted his arm and pointed in their direction.
His palms were closed as if to represent a fist.
Then he swiftly opened them.
KKKKKKKKKRRRRR!!!
The ball extended instantly,
Becoming a 15-foot-tall structure with six sharp blades coming out of it.
As they emerged, they directly pierced the bodies of the robotic villains that stood beside,
Destroying them entirely on impact.
They were left in shreds, unreusable and useless.
And then—
WHOOSH!!!
He was gone.
---
The camera room fell silent.
Its darkened walls and shut lights spoke sound,
Sound so silent that even their breaths almost seemed extinct.
"Well, that was unexpected," spoke All Might.
"Sir, there's a problem!" a man who was crazily typing on his computer shouted.
"There seems to be a huge amount of interference in the air."
"What is it?" Nezu asked.
"It's birds, but…"
The heroes looked puzzled.
"They're too far apart to be deemed a coincidence," he spoke, "and there's also the fact that they're moving in the same direction."
"What are they following?" Nezu asked, his face hinting at interest.
"A student in section G."
"So it's a quirk?" All Might intervened.
"Yes, but…"
"…?"
"It's the recommended one," he said. "It's as if they're telling him where to go.
Wherever there's interference, he seems to move in that direction too.
And another thing—he keeps following the same routes, routes that stem from interference."
They all looked puzzled.
"So you're saying it's his quirk?" All Might asked.
"90%," the man replied. "He could be getting outside assistance, but I doubt that would be possible because the exam is surrounded by 60 RF shielding equipment, so the only explanation is…"
"It's his quirk," Nezu smiled. "Okay, send in the zero pointers."
The man near the screen hesitated, his hand floating above the now-open red button.
Closing his eyes, he pushed it,
Then again,
Then again.
"Fufufu!" Nezu's voice slipped out in laughter.
All those around didn't know what was happening,
But he knew. He was sure.
Nezu had discovered something.
"How interesting," he spoke, leaning back in his chair as he watched. "How very interesting."
---
DROOOOONG... DROOOOONG... DROOOONG!!!
Ken stopped his pace as he looked around.
On the horizon,
As if a view of warning, as if the return of the ascended,
Three giants came from the same direction.
The ground shook, as if a multitude of earthquakes took form in one instant.
"AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
"EEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!"
"AAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!"
Sounds of the frightened rang louder than the warnings.
Teens ran as if danger to life had come,
As they screamed with shouts, only one,
Only one was seen standing there,
Looking through eyes of floating scopes,
Standing still,
Watching, waiting,
He remained.
His face showed a hint of a joyous smile.
He knew that time had come.
He knew…
He knew that…
Armageddon.
