Chapter 17 - Joining the Adventure Guild

"Here, huh." Atlas said looking at the black and red building in front of him.

"Windy...Grayzer, huddle around me real quick." Atlas asked waving them over and have them stand around him forming a three person huddle.

Atlas called upon the status going to the inventory tab to find the beast core. He held his hand upright in the middle of the huddle.

'Remove from Inventory'

Atlas thought and in a flash the Wildfire's Beast Core appeared in his hand.

"Here you go." Atlas said holding the core up to Grayzer who took it with trembling hands. He looked at Windy who had a similar expression on her face probably having the same question as him.

'How did he do that without a space ring?'

They separated from the huddle and walked up to Alex, Kevin, and Sophie together.

"Young master," Grayzer bowed his head and handed Alex the beast core. Alex nodded his head and grabbed the core and had it enter his space ring.

"Let's go," Alex said turning around and taking a couple steps towards the outside steps of the building. "Oh right," Alex began turning around to face Atlas and his servants "Do you have an adventurer's card?"

Atlas responded by shaking his head no.

"I see, we'll have to get you registered then."

As they entered the building the chatter of groups of people at different tables can be heard. Some crying and being consoled. Others happy about their gains and profits, while others were chowing down on food or drinking beverages.

Once Alex and his siblings walked in silence enveloped the atmosphere. The steps of 6 individuals walking at their own pace was heard as they walked up to an attendant at the counter.

The attendant was a young woman with red hair and hazel eyes with an oval shaped head. Her attire was that of a simple yellow top and white pants.

"Y-young master, how may I assist y-you today." The attendant stammered as she realized who she was interacting with.

"One of my members here would like to sign up with the guild." Alex said pointing towards Atlas causing the attendant to raise an eyebrow.

"Uhhh, her sir?"

"Him." Alex corrected

"Sorry?" The attendant was confused

"He's male despite his feminine features." Alex said with a light laugh.

"R-really? My apologies." The attendant apologized to Atlas for her error.

"It's fine." Atlas accepted the apology with a smile causing the lady to blush.

"May I have you sign these papers, and once done assess your affinity with this crystal. Finally, I would need to draw some blood to seal your identity to the card." The attendant explained handing Atlas some papers which he grabbed.

Atlas opened his eyes to look at the info, and he was intrigued by the letters. It seemed like a different language but he was luckily able to read it.

Once Atlas was done completing the paper work he closed his eyes once again and handed it back to the attendant. Who looked it over briefly.

"Your last name is Blaze AND you have the affinities of a Quadra Elementalist!" The attendant yelled out in shock looking at the paper work close to her face with shaking hands.

Everybody in the building turned in his direction some in shock while others, like Alex and his siblings, narrowed their eyes.

"Yeah, what about it?" Atlas answered nonchalantly.

'Go ahead and yell out my info why don't you!'

"N-nothing! I'll get this processed right away for you." The attendant quickly ran to the back to have his info and potential processed on the guild card.

"Oi, why did you put your last name as Blaze?" Kevin asked.

"Cause it is. You can confirm with Windy who used a Truth seeker. " Atlas answered

"Is this true?" Alex asked turning to look in Windy's direction.

Windy sighed dragging a hand through her head, but quickly bowed when she realized she sighed in front of Alex.

"Apologies, young master," She said as she got back up from bowing and continued "Yes, it is true that the truth seeker confirmed his last name as Blaze."

"Who are you exactly Atlas? We haven't a Blaze in your caliber nor...appearance ," He said looking Atlas up and down before continuing, "Yet your last name is Blaze and you have affinities of a Quadra-Elementalist." Alex analyzed Atlas "There's something obviously hidden about you."

"I'm not answering your question." Atlas said still facing the direction the attendant was prior, not even turning around to address Alex directly. A bit of pressure intent released Alex as he stared at Atlas.

"A threatened animal will always bite back. So I suggest you stop there." Atlas said through slight opened eyes as he felt the bit of pressure releasing from Alex.

The pressure Alex was releasing immediately stopped as the attendant came out with a white card with dark yellow circuitry running through it. On the left was the adventure guild logo and it had a chip on its right side with the letter 'F' in the right upper corner.

"Here you go Atlas, this card serves as a form of contact, currency holder, locator, and as a way to access certain premises. Please place your finger in this device to prick your finger and put a drop of blood on the card to secure identity."

Atlas followed the directions and placed his finger on a device that looked like a finger scanner. Once he felt the prick on his finger he placed a drop of blood on the card and a link was formed with him and the card. It felt like Atlas won't ever fail to find the card if he were to lose it or misplace it.

'Hmm that's useful.'

"To increase your rank and upgrade your adventurer's card, you can complete a certain amount of bounties or have a re-evaluation test in one of the upper floors.

Oh right, you are also able to do bounties 1 rank above your current rank if you feel like you're capable.

Also, putting mana into your card shall reveal how many points you require until next rank up. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

"Nope, that's all for me." Atlas replied to the attendant. He held the card between his index and middle finger adding his gratitude. "Thanks."

He turned to Alex saying "I'm all registered now."

Alex sighed and took his place at the front of the line. Atlas stepped to the side of the counter to 'watch' the process.

"Zelina, we would like to sell this beast core." Alex said removing the beast core from his space ring and placing it on the counter.

"Cer-certainly young master," The attendant whose name turned out to be Zelina replied. "Please wait here as I procure your rewards in the back."

As Zelina headed back to procure the rewards for selling the beast core Atlas took the time to try and insert mana into the card. He focused on the energy that he always felt being siphoned from him and tried to imagine it entering the card.

An interface similar to his system appeared in front of him. Instead of it being white and black, the screen was almost an ocean blue with a white colored font of this worlds language. The other 5 individuals seem to glance at Atlas accessing his card.

"Cool." Atlas said looking at the screen in front of him.

{

Before taking a look at the Home Screen content Atlas scrolled over the navigation bar on top to see what other tabs was included.

{

This seems to have a lot more tabs. So they created a setup that acts similar to Cel's system.

Atlas thought to himself as he glanced over the contents of the home tab.

The one notification just turned out to be some welcome message from some guild master by the name of Alistair and Atlas decided to ignore it.

Not long after, Zelina came back with nothing in her hands but a card similar to the adventurer's card but black. The only other difference was instead of a letter on the upper right was the word "Attendant".

Alex held out his C rank orange adventure card and Zelina tapped the chip end on her card to the chip on Alex's card. A sound similar to an opening cash register sounded and a robotic voice said 'Transaction completed.'

"Please confirm you have your funds, young master." Zelina requested and Alex inserted his mana into his card to confirm if it was there. He scrolled to the marketplace tab.

"All there." Alex nodded his head confirming the recent transaction amount.

"Thank you for doing business with the Adventure Guild, young master. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"

"No." Alex said and walked over to an empty 6 person table taking a seat. Everyone else took a seat at the rectangle table. Alex and Atlas were at the ends while Sophie and Kevin sat on one side and Windy and Grayzer sat at the other.

Alex held his card out, making the interface screen appear and started pressing buttons unknown to Atlas since he couldn't see the screen from his side.

Once Alex was done, the card in Atlas's hand vibrated. He inserted his mana to see the screen.

Atlas clicked on the number next to 'Notifications,' revealing the two notifications that was sent to him.

{GuildMaster's Welcome}

{Alexander V. Blaze has sent you 7.5 gold coins

Do you accept?

[YES][NO]}

Atlas looked up at Alex when he saw the price, "Isn't this double what you mentioned earlier?"

"It is, think of it as a perk due to my status." Alex answered shrugging

Atlas just hummed and accepted it anyways. Who was he to reject getting double the price of the earlier amount? After clicking on 'Yes' and earning 7.5 gold coins. Atlas looked up at the five individuals.

"So what do you guys have planned at the moment?" Atlas asked

"We're going to do more bounties to train and gain fighting experience." Alex replied, "We would ask you to join us, but your rank is too low to join our party."

"I see." Atlas said before looking between Windy and Grayzer. "I'm guessing you're going with them." Atlas wondered and they nodded their heads. Atlas frowned for a couple seconds and then replaced with a small smile.

"I see...so uh...do we meet each other back here after?" Atlas said with a hopeful tone, "I mean you guys know what happened and I don't really know anything or anyone here or have anywhere else to stay at the moment." Atlas explained while rubbing the back of his head.

"I don't know, man." Grayzer responded "We don't know when we might be back, but there are inns nearby that sell for about 50 - 75 bronze coins a night."

"Oh...I see." Atlas nodded understanding the situation.

It might have been earlier than expected but Atlas decided to take out 4 gold coins from his newly acquired adventure card.

"Well since this might be a goodbye, I might as well thank you guys for not leaving me in that forest and letting me have breakfast as well." Atlas says while handing two gold coins to Windy and two gold coins to Grayzer.

"Thanks guys, I really appreciate it."

"This...this is too much." Grayzer said looking at the gold coins in his hands. The price from selling that beast core would've earned him and Windy about 75 silvers. Atlas just gave them at least twice their earnings like it was nothing.

Windy stared at the two gold coins in her hands and look up at Atlas with confusion. "Why are you so nice to us? You're not pitying us cause we're mere servants are you." Windy questioned clenching her hand around the coins. Her beginning question having a tone of confusion until it turned angry at the second question.

"Not at all, I always intended to give the amount equally. Besides you all injured that boar together didn't you. I just got lucky to finish it off. So why should I pity you if you earned it?" Atlas replied seriously looking in Windy's direction with his eyes closed.
