Cherreads

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Life Principles

At the end of April, the cherry blossoms in Sapporo City bloomed.

The Hokkaido Police Academy is known for its cherry blossoms, and right now is the perfect time for viewing them, but the cadets have no time to appreciate them.

They gathered in the training room, sitting in two rows, each with wide eyes, breathing heavily.

The once-strict female instructor removed her uniform, revealing a black deep V-pencil skirt underneath. Her long, fair legs slipped out of the police boots and into a pair of black-bordered, red-soled high heels.

The cadets whispered among themselves in hushed voices.

"Hey, I always thought Instructor Sakurai had a great figure..."

"Not good, so she was binding her chest before? Now it looks so grand!"

"Such long legs, such tender toes, standing guard so often yet no calluses..."

Sakurai Chizuru ignored the cadets' muttering.

She picked up the prop bag on the desk, opened a makeup mirror, and applied lipstick to her plump, soft lips, all the while casting a sidelong glance and saying coldly, "Alright, who will go first?"

The cadets whispered among themselves, hesitating.

A male cadet sitting in the last row lowered his head, yawning nonchalantly.

He thought he hid it well, but Sakurai Chizuru caught him.

With just a glance, information about this cadet flashed in her mind.

Fushimi Roku, male, 23 years old, graduated from Nagoya City University, classified as an A-category college graduate cadet, with average entry test scores, unremarkable athletic ability, but an outstanding appearance, unforgettable at a glance...

He would do.

Just as Sakurai Chizuru prepared to call him, a male cadet in the front row suddenly stood up and volunteered:

"I'll go!"

Click, she closed the makeup mirror, indicating for the cadet to step out.

The two stood facing each other, the exercise officially began.

The cadet stepped forward, beginning the routine inquiry: "Excuse me, sorry to bother you..."

Before he could finish, Sakurai Chizuru grasped his shoulders with both hands, suddenly kneed upwards, hitting his weak spot between the legs!

The cadet howled and fell, clutching his crotch tightly, his body curling up.

Her high heel stomped on the back of his head, grinding repeatedly.

Instructor Sakurai looked down at him, reprimanding: "All your eyes are on women's chests while on patrol, and you call yourself a police officer? I've said it many times! When questioning, keep your eyes vigilant on the suspect's movements!"

The watching cadets were chilled, lowering their heads as the instructor's sharp gaze swept over them.

"Listen! I'm not here to cultivate you; I'm here to pick out those unfit to be police officers and expel you! If you're not resolute to the end, apply to drop out early!"

Sakurai Chizuru paused, then shouted, "Next!"

The male cadet gingerly returned to his seat, clutching his groin, and the classroom was silent, with no more volunteers.

Seeing this, Sakurai Chizuru called out, "Mr. Fushimi, step out."

The cadets breathed a sigh of relief, casting sympathetic glances his way.

Fushimi Roku stood up, and Kiyoko from the neighboring table softly reminded, "Good luck! Don't be stage-shy, Instructor Sakurai prefers manly men!"

"She wouldn't, she's just enjoying herself..." Fushimi Roku thought bitterly.

Two months ago, his name was Zhou Hao, a heavy mystery enthusiast from China, a part-time writer of bizarre suspense stories, with a main job as a lawyer. He was stabbed to death by a prosecuted target due to his sharp tongue.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself a fresh graduate in parallel Japan of the 1990s.

Fushimi Roku's parents died early, and the inheritance was spent on university. He graduated during the burst of the economic bubble, with all of Japan not yet recovering. After weighing his options, he decided to become a police officer after crossing over.

Partly due to his interest in Japanese mysteries, but not wanting to continue his old profession, he naturally chose the profession dealing most with cases, the police;

Partly also to make a living, as the threshold to become a police officer in Japan is very low, requiring only high school graduation, no criminal record, and passing the most basic civil service exam to apply to the police academy. University graduates are classified as A-category cadets, requiring only six months of training to gain certification.

Of course, the main reason is he awakened the Criminal System.

In Fushimi Roku's eyes, everyone has three lines above their heads: "criminal index," "vices," and "clearance reward."

Like now, above Instructor Sakurai's head are three lines of description.

"Criminal Index": 27%

"Vices": Believes only manly men have value for reformation

"Clearance Reward": Eliminate Sakurai Chizuru's crimes to gain Lv3 Grapple Skill

...

The higher the criminal index, the richer the clearance reward.

"I really don't get why I awakened such a weird system..."

Fushimi Roku mused as he stood before the instructor.

Sakurai Chizuru's beautiful eyes scanned him from head to toe; this man had a straight posture and handsome face, but exuded a soft aura, feeling he wouldn't last long before crying for mercy.

Only this face could pique her interest.

Fushimi Roku guessed correctly, she indeed enjoyed it.

But educating students is the instructor's duty, and the police academy is a high-pressure training ground, so her actions are beyond reproach.

"Let's begin."

Sakurai Chizuru swayed her hips, pretending to be a suspect walking quickly.

"Excuse me, where are you headed?" Fushimi Roku kept his distance, reaching out to stop her.

"What do you want?" Sakurai Chizuru snapped. "I'm drunk and feeling dazed, get lost, leave me alone!"

"I'm Patrol Officer Fushimi Roku, may I ask your name?" Fushimi Roku followed, staying half a body's length behind.

"Why should I answer you? You guys are all tax thieves, don't think you're special in a uniform! If you follow me, I'll report you for sexual harassment—"

Before Sakurai Chizuru could finish, she felt a kick to the back of her knee.

She stumbled, kneeling on one knee. Before she realized what happened, a large hand pressed her face harshly to the ground.

With a dull thud, the cadets widened their eyes.

"Ugh—"

Fushimi Roku pressed her neck and back with his knee, restraining her wrists, sternly saying:

"According to Article 2 of the Police Duties Execution Act, officers can question suspicious individuals. Your actions just now violated Article 230 of Japan's Penal Code, publicly demeaning others constitutes insult, and by refusing to cooperate during police questioning, you are now arrested for obstruction of public duty."

"—Damned bastard!"

Sakurai Chizuru was enraged, thinking this was clearly violent enforcement, right? What police arrest passersby from behind? Correct protocol is to endure, let the questioned subject bully and hassle! After all, they'll only be the lowest patrol officers at police boxes, how dare they be as arrogant as criminal police?!

"Instructor Sakurai!"

Fushimi Roku's low call brought Sakurai Chizuru back to her senses.

"Violence is my life's creed." he said earnestly.
