Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The Secret That Can’t Be Told

According to the plot development of a two-dimensional world or erotic doujin, after Sakurai Chizuru was pinned to the ground, she inexplicably felt her heart pounding, thinking that this feeling of being humiliated while pinned was so thrilling. No man had ever dared to treat her like this, causing her to awaken strange attributes and start pursuing Fushimi Roku like a pervert...

However, the reality was that Fushimi Roku was ordered to run 25 laps around the playground as punishment and was not allowed to have dinner until he finished.

To make matters worse, Instructor Sakurai seemed to hold a grudge against him and would inevitably give him a hard time later on.

"After paying tuition and board, I only have 150,000 yen left in my account. I don't even know which town district I'll be assigned to after graduation..."

"This system is so useless. How could a law-abiding citizen like me ever commit murder? A system like the Butter System would be much more practical..."

Fushimi Roku thought to himself as he ran.

By the time he finished, it was past mealtime, and the cafeteria was closed.

The police academy had strict schedules, including a regulation that showers should be taken in under three minutes, all aimed at training students' sense of time.

Fushimi Roku's stomach growled loudly with hunger.

High-intensity aerobic activity consumes a large amount of glycogen from the body, dramatically increasing hunger, but it doesn't cause significant harm to the body. Thus, long-distance running combined with fasting has always been the training officers' favorite form of punishment.

He gulped down water, hoping to fill his stomach.

However, it wasn't long before the feeling of hunger struck again.

Dragging his exhausted body, Fushimi Roku walked back to the dormitory, thinking he should have brought some instant cans with him.

Suddenly, a small head popped up from the bushes by the roadside:

"Here! Fushimi-kun, over here!"

Under the dim streetlight, the girl's eyes were exceptionally lively, her pupils as brilliant as gems reflecting a hazy light.

Her name was Minamoto Tamako, and she was a fellow student of Fushimi Roku. During practical classes, she sat beside him, quietly reminding him 'don't get stage fright.'

She was squatting in the bushes, her petite body curled into a ball with her hair getting two tufts sticking out from the branches, making her look like a rabbit.

"Hungry?"

Minamoto Tamako shook the paper bag in her hand and whispered, "I sneaked some rice balls for you. Eat them before going back, and don't let anyone else find out."

"It's you again..."

Fushimi Roku wasn't surprised; he just felt a headache coming on.

Ever since they bumped into each other on the first day of school, Minamoto Tamako hadn't let go of him.

This girl's intuition was terrifyingly sharp, and her curiosity was unusually strong—just a glance at the "criminal index" above her head had aroused her suspicion.

"What is Fushimi-kun looking at?"

"Is there something on my head? Why are you surprised?"

"Why do you instinctively look at other people's heads, Fushimi-kun?"

...

For the past half month, whenever she had the chance, Minamoto Tamako pestered him with endless questions.

No matter how Fushimi Roku lied, muddled through, or covered up, she could see through him immediately, further arousing her intense curiosity. She firmly believed that "Fushimi must have some unspeakable secret"!

The reason why Fushimi Roku was shocked at the time was that Minamoto Tamako's criminal index was astonishingly low, only 1%.

You should know that a normal person's criminal index fluctuates between 10% and 20%.

Exceeding 20% could be considered having a bad character, reaching 30% would basically mean the person has committed a crime, and beyond 35% would be a major criminal. The higher the number, the higher the "crime value."

So far, Fushimi Roku had not seen anyone with a criminal index reaching 40%.

"Today, I'm not here to question Fushimi again."

After saying this, Minamoto Tamako signaled for him to crawl into the bushes to chat.

The latter had no choice but to comply to get the rice balls.

The two squatted side by side in the grass, and Fushimi Roku casually said as he took the paper bag:

"Have you finally realized how annoying you are? It's rare to see you this honest... Huh? And the rice balls are still warm."

Minamoto Tamako ignored him as if Fushimi Roku had merely passed gas. She continued, "Actually, I want to discuss something else with Fushimi-kun... Don't you think Instructor Sakurai has been acting strange lately?"

"Hasn't she always been a pervert?" Fushimi Roku mumbled through mouthfuls of rice ball.

"How can you badmouth the instructor? Even during practical class, it's too much to hit the instructor, no matter what!"

Minamoto Tamako reprimanded him, then continued, "Don't you know? Recently, the class leader has been privately interrogating people, saying that Instructor Sakurai received an anonymous letter, and he's secretly helping to find the sender for the instructor. What do you think is going on?"

"Maybe some student sent a love letter."

Fushimi Roku wasn't surprised. With Instructor Sakurai's looks and personality, there were probably tons of guys who wanted to be her pets.

"If it were a love letter, there would be no need for the class leader to look for people. A love letter would surely have a signature or other contact information. Otherwise, what's the point of sending one? Moreover, how did the sender manage to evade everyone else and deliver the envelope to the private office?"

Squatting on the grass, Minamoto Tamako wrapped her left arm around her knees, nibbling on her pale pink nail with her mouth, murmuring, "There must be some hidden secret here!"

Fushimi Roku wasn't interested. After finishing the rice balls, he stood up and prepared to leave.

Minamoto Tamako grabbed his trouser leg and asked, "You're leaving just like that?"

"What else should I do?"

"Are you planning to eat for free?" Minamoto Tamako asked.

"How much? I'll pay you..."

"I don't want money," Minamoto Tamako shook her head, interrupting, "I want you to help figure out what's written in the anonymous letter."

As soon as she finished speaking, a system prompt popped up before Fushimi Roku's eyes.

"Criminal Commission Triggered"

"Task Details: Search for Sakurai Chizuru's anonymous letter"

"Task Reward: Obtain Lv1 Tracking Skill"

"Note: Subsequent tasks not unlocked"

...

"There it is again," Minamoto Tamako furrowed her brow, staring into his eyes, "Your eyes suddenly lost focus, as if you were looking at something I couldn't see... What are you looking at?"

"Nothing, just looking at mosquitoes." Fushimi Roku dodged.

"You're lying." Minamoto Tamako immediately judged.

Fushimi Roku felt his scalp tingle and changed the subject, "Why do you have to ask me for help? You have a better relationship with Kawai, don't you? Why not ask her instead of coming to me? We're not that close, right?"

"Kawai is a good girl, and you're a bad guy," Minamoto Tamako said.

"What's the logic in that? Is there any cause-and-effect relationship here? And I'm actually a good person!" Fushimi Roku felt quite annoyed.

"Because I'm afraid to investigate alone and afraid of violating police school rules... So I need a villain—cough, cough—I need a tough guy like you to lead," Minamoto Tamako said insincerely.

"How could a tough guy be bought off with just three rice balls?"

"Please, I have no one else to ask," Minamoto Tamako said softly, "In return, I can wash your clothes for a week."

Fushimi Roku thought, why does it have to be like this? Instructor Sakurai isn't related to her in any way, even if there's some hidden problem, there's no need to dig this deep, right? Is this girl a cat? Her curiosity seems to have reached a pathological level!

He lowered his head to meet Minamoto Tamako's eyes.

The girl looked up at him, her eyes full of expectation.

...

"Just this once." Fushimi Roku reluctantly said.
