Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Moonlight is Also Light

Under the leadership of the Knight Captain, Lette entered the interior of the Linsaint Watchtower.

A teenager, appearing to be in his teens, was bound by iron chains and knelt on the ground with his head lowered.

"Is he the werewolf?"

"Yes."

Just as Lette was about to step forward, the teenager suddenly leaped up and charged towards them.

Despite his rapid movements, the chains as thick as a child's arm were no joke, especially with Holy Text engraved on them.

The werewolf boy, upon revealing the Dark Race's power, was immediately enveloped by the surging Holy Light and, with a wail, crashed heavily onto the ground.

Watching the werewolf whose body was smoking, Lette squinted his eyes.

"You actually tried to attack inside the watchtower; it seems your resistance to Holy Light is extraordinarily high. Are you an unknown new species, or have you undergone some special baptism?"

The werewolf boy raised his head with a sad smile, turned away, and didn't answer.

"Hey! The lord is asking you a question!"

The Knight Captain raised his whip to strike but was stopped by Lette with a wave of his hand.

"You think I can't figure it out if you don't speak? Little brother, you're underestimating me too much, aren't you?"

As he spoke, Lette formed sword fingers with both hands and placed them over his eyes, gathering Holy Light. Then, his fingers crossed to form a rhombus.

The rhombus halo expanded instantly, covering the werewolf boy completely. Subsequently, beams of light flowed back and forth, scanning his entire body like a device.

Upon receiving the results, Lette's expression turned extremely grim. He signaled to the Knight Captain, and the two left the watchtower without a word.

In a secluded clearing in the camp, the Knight Captain watched Lette carefully.

"Your Highness, is the situation dire?"

"They come with ill intentions. This werewolf clan boy isn't special, but he indeed has means to resist Holy Light detection.

According to the detection results, unless they actively use dark powers or are touched directly by a blessing artifact, it's hard to identify them with ordinary detection results."

The muscles on the Knight Captain's face twitched, with the Holy Presence Ceremony approaching. If the Dark Race could deploy an army to infiltrate the pilgrim crowd and penetrate the Holy City quietly...

"How could this be? How did they achieve it? Is it some kind of magic or alchemy?"

Lette rubbed his fingers, his gaze turning profound: "Are you aware of the Elf Era?"

"Of course, it's said that before humans dominated the continent, elves were the rulers of the world. They were the pioneers of magic and humanity's mentors.

Your Highness, could this be related to the elves?"

"No, I meant to say that before the Elf Era, there was a period known as the Troll Era. That era was dominated by totems and Blood Sacrifice Witchcraft.

Their techniques resemble those of the barbarian clans at the Eternal Frozen Glacier."

Lette looked towards the gate of the watchtower: "If my analysis is correct, what is cast upon this werewolf is a mixture of blood magic and blood sacrifice witchcraft."

The Knight Captain shook his head repeatedly upon hearing this: "Your Highness, that's impossible. Although I'm not familiar with this Troll Era blood sacrifice witchcraft,

blood magic is the signature skill of the vampire clan! Although both belong to the Dark Race, they and the werewolf clan are mortal enemies.

How could they possibly..."

Lette waved to interrupt him: "Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant; the important thing is to report this to the Church Court promptly.

We've lost the ones already in the city, but for the remaining time, we must strictly vet people entering the city to thwart the enemies' scheming."

"Yes! I'll have someone prepare the magic scroll for communication right away!"

After transmitting the information to the Holy City, Lette took the Knight Captain to the camp's entrance.

Looking at the bustling pilgrim crowd in Tower Town, the Knight Captain found himself overwhelmed.

"Your Highness, how many Dark Race assassins do you think are among these people?"

"You want to know?"

Lette glanced at him: "I could reveal them now.

But then it would be chaos and desperate slaughter. Many civilians would be harmed, is that what you wish to see?"

The disciplinary black knight is relentless in performing its duties, but the Knight Captain knew Lette's character, so he decisively chose to shake his head.

Yet he was still curious: "Do you have a plan?"

"Using moonlight. Almost all Dark Race are Moon's Favored. As long as they are exposed to the full moon's light, their powers will surge and become exposed."

The Knight Captain laughed bitterly: "Your Highness, there's no full moon tonight, and there won't be one anytime soon."

"Moonlight is light. As long as it's light, I can create it."

Lette leaned against the doorpost: "The biggest challenge now is how to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible."

"Your Highness, do you have any good methods?"

"Ideally, the effect should cover everyone but be harmless to civilians while being effective against the enemy..."

Lette suddenly clapped his hands, but the Knight Captain, who seemingly had the same realization, dropped to both knees with a clang.

"Your Highness! No!"

"Why not?"

"By no means should you preach here!"

Lette was slightly annoyed: "I've said it many times; I am delivering a speech! An inspirational speech!"

"The name doesn't matter, the point is, you can't do that!"

"Do you have any better ideas right now?"

The Knight Captain remained kneeling: "Your Highness, it's not viable! Every time you preach, the Church Court spawns new sects!

The Mahayana Holy Light Sect! The Light Enabler Sect! And the most nonsensical, the Uluotolaman Sect!

Do you know how much effort and energy the Church Court has put into managing and constraining these new sects?

The revised edition of the Holy Light Scripture is already on its fifth edition!

You must not preach again, I beg of you."

Lette also felt a bit embarrassed: "Alright, alright, let's try another way."

"What...what way?"

Lette pondered for a moment: "I'm considering making a Dark Race trap, what do you think?"

"The key is, what do you plan to use as bait?"

"Wait for me a bit!"

Lette turned and ran towards a carriage, coming back after a while carrying a large bag.

"Take a look at these."

The Knight Captain received the half-human-high package, and upon opening it, his head started to sweat.

"This! This is the seventh volume of the Book of Evil! And the Beast Tooth Dagger of the Disaster Evil Beast! Black Gold Tears Sword! A Medal of Desecration of the Mother Goddess? Gaiertos' Crystal Skull?"

The Knight Captain quickly closed the package, his whole body starting to tremble.

Every single item here was recognizable, some even on par with catastrophe-level fugitives.

If these fell into the wrong hands, they could cause regional extinction events in minutes.

"Your Highness, what is this..."

Lette puffed up his chest: "These are the little trinkets I've gathered in three years of roaming. I plan to submit them to the Church Court upon return for a reward exchange, ideally getting a small plot of land.

From then on, I could become a landlord, living a life of luxury, earning from rents.

Don't worry, I've sealed all of these.

I'm planning to use a few to set a trap and one as bait to lure out these Dark Race members!"

"You're setting a trap?"

"Of course! If you don't set a trap when fishing, you won't catch much!"
