Chapter 008: Silver Fox
This hardly resembled the style of a violent thug, or a notorious pirate. Even though Lin Chuan was released without charges, she firmly believed that Lin Chuan had to be a problematic individual, possibly even a deserter from the mountain. Such people should be steadfastly surveilled, ready to strike at the slightest disturbance.
Fighting crimes and preventing violations is a duty of the police. The national emblem on the cap is Song Xiaojia's faith.
Eventually, one day, Song Xiaojia noticed the sneaky behavior of Lin Chuan.
It happened one night at ten o'clock when Lin Chuan drove away from Changlin Community in a car he had snatched from Long Wu.
"How odd, this late? Where is he going?!" This immediately triggered Song Xiaojia's alertness, and she immediately followed in her red pineapple car.
Crisscrossing, Lin Chuan went directly from the East District to the docks of West District.
These docks were quite old. With Jiangbei City's waterways well-developed, the economy previously thrived on water transport. However, with today's rich land transport system, highways, trains, high-speed rails... all were open, so the old docks were phased out. Lin Chuan's arrival in this place aroused Song Xiaojia's suspicion even more.
"It seems the fox is about to show its tail," Song Xiaojia's mouth curved into a peculiar smile.
Actually, all along the way, Lin Chuan had already noticed Song Xiaojia's tailing, but he did not care.
The wind was strong at the dock; it was already autumn, and the night wind was chilly, with thick mist over the river. Lin Chuan stood on the dock, his dark silhouette like a landmark.
"Could it be a drug trade?" Song Xiaojia parked her car far away; she could clearly see Lin Chuan's back. Thinking this, she felt her heart pounding violently. She quickly pulled out her handgun and loaded it with bullets. If it was indeed a drug trade, then this would become her first major case in her police career. With this thought, her palms started to sweat. She bent over and got out of the car, then swiftly darted into the nearby bushes and lay in ambush.
In the afternoon, Lin Chuan received a message from Silver Fox, setting a meeting at the docks. Unexpectedly, Silver Fox had come to Jiangbei City. Thinking of the enchanting Silver Fox, Lin Chuan's thoughts couldn't help but return to the battlefield of those years, those windy and sandy deserts, where Dark Soldier was like a sharp blade piercing the heart of a terrorist organization.
Silver Fox was a woman Lin Chuan saved in the desert. Later, she became the leader of the organization, although she had changed her appearance ever since.
"Lin Chuan, you're here?" A delicate voice came.
Not far away, a lady in a red dress emerged from the darkness, as if she casually drew aside the dark like a curtain. When her graceful figure appeared before Lin Chuan, even his heart couldn't help but surge. This woman's beauty was so unbelievable that it seemed it shouldn't exist in this world – a five-foot-seven figure with absolutely golden proportions, and slim legs that didn't have an ounce of excess fat. Her flawless face, like gemstone eyes that were endearing, and her cherry lips seductive, her gaze carried a hint of coquetry mixed with a touch of grievances.
"What do you want with me?" Lin Chuan exhaled a puff of smoke, the smoke swirling and obscuring his indifferent eyes.
"I heard you've been kicked out of the organization?" Silver Fox walked up slowly.
"Are you here to ridicule me?" Lin Chuan took a deep drag on his cigarette and laughed, "If so, then there's no need for such trouble."
"Of course, I would never ridicule you," Silver Fox replied urgently. "I've come from afar to invite you to join Fire Fox, to become the leader of Fire Fox."
"Thank you for your kindness!" Lin Chuan shook his head, "I've decided to just be an ordinary person from now on. Not getting involved with any organizations anymore."
"Lin Chuan, you can't waste your talent," Silver Fox pleaded, "Fire Fox needs you."
"You've already done quite well," Lin Chuan replied with a nonchalant smile.
Angered, Silver Fox said, "I get it, they must have hurt you. I'll take people to settle the score with them right now!"
"No need," Lin Chuan smiled, "It was my fault to begin with."
"But all you did was kill some who deserved it," Silver Fox spat in hatred, her exquisite face now marked with rage: "Chen Tianxiu, such a demon, he deserved to die. You just killed him without a trial. If it were me, I would have made sure he had no place to be buried."
"Let's drop it, there's no point talking about this," Lin Chuan shook his head indifferently, flicking the cigarette butt away; a spark traced a beautiful arc before falling into the river.
Chen Tianxiu, a Chinese national, committed horrendous crimes, so many they're impossible to fully record. He was a big bully in the northeast, not only raping countless young girls but also organizing many criminals, forming a powerful and evil force. He colluded with foreign organizations and sold out national secrets.
Speaking of him, he was quite notorious in the northeast, ordinary people shrank at the mention of his name. The Ministry of Public Security had actually been watching him for a long time, but he had long secretly emigrated, so without concrete evidence, they did not take action against him.
Because of the severe crimes Chen Tianxiu committed, the Ministry of Public Security ordered Lin Chuan's organization to carry out a secret arrest.
The organization assigned Lin Chuan to execute this task. He was shocked to discover that he was responsible for the case involving vast lands in the northeast all those years ago. The moment they caught him, they executed him by shooting. Little did they know that because of this, Lin Chuan was also implicated, and some people behind Chen Tianxiu were furious as a result. After weighing their options, the organization had no choice but to let him leave.
"Lin Chuan, are you really not coming with me?" Silver Fox asked.
"You go back," Lin Chuan turned his head to look at the rippling river under the night sky and said, "I'm no longer a Dark Soldier; I'm just an ordinary person now. I can't help you with anything. So, you don't need to waste your time on me anymore."
"You've changed," Silver Fox shook her head and said, "you weren't like this before."
"Yes, I have changed," Lin Chuan looked up at the starry sky, his tone somewhat desolate.
At this moment, Silver Fox could no longer control her emotions. She threw herself into Lin Chuan's arms, her voice filled with agitation as she said, "Chuan, come with me, I'm willing to be your wife. If you stay, it will only bury your talent and gifts completely. You are an excellent soldier; your destiny should be on the battlefield, not in this dazzling urban life. Do you understand?"
Silver Fox's warmth could not melt the iceberg in Lin Chuan's heart. No matter how hard she tried, she could not awaken Lin Chuan's heart.
In the end, Silver Fox left, leaving Lin Chuan alone standing on the dock, looking up at the starry sky.
"Come out!" Lin Chuan spoke up, "You've been squatting for so long, aren't you tired?"
Song Xiaojia was startled. She immediately crawled out of the bushes, pulled out her gun, and aimed it at Lin Chuan, saying, "Lin Chuan, hand over what you have on you."
In Song Xiaojia's eyes, the moment Silver Fox had thrown herself into Lin Chuan's arms must have been when the deal was completed. Certainly, there was something incriminating on Lin Chuan. Such clandestine trades were all too common in cop shows; for all she knew, Lin Chuan might have had kilograms of drugs hidden on him.
"I told you not to point a gun at me," Lin Chuan's voice was unusually cold, a hint of disgust flashing in his eyes.
"You!" Song Xiaojia became nervous, her palms sweaty, feeling as if she could barely hold onto her gun.
Whoosh...
Suddenly, Lin Chuan vanished from where he stood—a grown man seeming to disappear into the darkness. Song Xiaojia panicked, and suddenly, a figure rushed towards her, hands firmly gripping Song Xiaojia's neck.
"Ah!" Song Xiaojia was so frightened that she dropped the gun and hastily grabbed the strong hands trying to break free.
"I said there wouldn't be a next time," Lin Chuan said furiously, "but you continue to challenge my bottom line again and again."
"What... what are you going to do!" Song Xiaojia was petrified.
"What's most important for a woman?" Lin Chuan's eyes were bloodshot, anger had already burned away his rationality, and the recent confrontation with Silver Fox had stirred up memories he had long buried. These reawakened memories made Lin Chuan feel as if he was back on the bloodstained battlefield, where every person he encountered could be an enemy.
Boom...
Suddenly, Lin Chuan threw Song Xiaojia onto the hood of the car with a loud thud. Song Xiaojia lay on the hood gasping for breath. She thought that Lin Chuan had spared her, but the nightmare was just beginning.
Rip...
Lin Chuan suddenly tore her uniform, and after the uniform was ripped apart, large patches of Song Xiaojia's fair skin were exposed, with a white bra encasing her enticing features, so tantalizing and pulse-quickening.
Lin Chuan pinned her down with a strange smile on his lips, "Believe it or not, I'm going to let you experience the pain of being raped right now!"
"Ah, you... you're insane!" Song Xiaojia cried out in alarm, saying, "You... you dare to assault a police officer, you... you..."
Lin Chuan's hands were wrapped around Song Xiaojia's neck, and fear shone in her eyes. Having been in the police force for a year, this was the first time she felt so close to death. Lin Chuan coldly looked at her and said, "This is the only time, no precedent will be set, otherwise..."
Having finished speaking, Lin Chuan drove away.
Song Xiaojia sat on the ground, still in shock, clutching her chest tightly. The shattered pieces of her uniform scattered on the ground like torn dignity. She sobbed, never having imagined that her reputation would be ruined just like that. Her purity was also destroyed by this devil.
When leaving, Lin Chuan was in turmoil, not understanding why he, who was always rational, had acted so recklessly. At that moment, he had felt almost out of control, like an untamed wild horse. If he hadn't forced himself to calm down, that foolish woman Song Xiaojia might have been conquered by him already.
