With the fall of Nergigante, the hunter group now prepares for an event many have been waiting for-the anjanath eggs hatching. Within the ancient forest, Evans could be seen observing the eggs as they begin to crack open. Soon after, a snout emerges from an egg. Then another and so on until, all of the eggs have little fanged mouths sticking out.
The hatchlings soon break out, announcing their prescense to the world by chirping noisily. "Well, they sure are...healthy at least." Evans lowered his head as gently as he could so as not to harm or startle them. The hatchlings all stop chirping as their nostrils flare, with the nose structure puffing out. Then, the hatchlings gave Evans quite the surprise. As if they had somehow practiced this, the hatchlings all turn their heads in sync to face Evans. "Okaaayyy... a little strange." The small brute wyverns then begin to stumble towards him.
The first two that had hatched latched onto Evans with their tiny teeth trying to climb up higher and failing. The third was nuzzling against his face while the fourth bobbed its head as if trying to show its excitement. "Well these guys aren't so-OW!" Felling a slight sting by his right leg, Evans twists his neck to find that the last hatched, the little punk, had a tuft of his fur! Seeing the little bald spot, a huff of air leaves his nostrils, slightly moving the anjanath hatchling in front of him back. "Did not even finish praising them in my mind and one of them is already proving me wrong!"
Gathering the five back into the nest, Evans then dragged over the corpse of an unlucky kulu ya Ku that had tried its luck while he returned from the elder's recess. The ever energetic hatchlings all get vocal again, having smelt something delicious in the air. Ripping a piece from the bird wyvern, Evans brings the chunk closer to the first hatched. The possible eldest of the group sunk its teeth into the strange object Infront of it. As the first enjoyed its first taste of meat, Evans placed chunks for the others.
Having finished their meals, The hatchlings soon find their already heavy eyelids grow heavier as, one by one, they fell asleep. Ever the dutiful guardian, Evans takes his post by the nest, watching for any monsters seeking a free meal. "To think, I became a father of monsters in this life when I couldn't even get a date in my last life. Truly nature works in funny ways."
Over the next month, a routine soon took shape, with the hatchlings exploring the area around the nest through , as their growth began to take place. Throughout the day, Evans would feed them monster carcasses, except for pukei pukei and Tobi Kadachi ones. The first could possibly poison their weak immune systems while the other could fry their nerves if their is residue static. Evans would observe them, assisting them whenever they stumble. One day, however, Evans woke up to the sound of 4 anxious chirpings. Jolting up, He soon realized that the youngest of the group had disappeared. "Dammit, Where did they go!?"
Pov change: hatchling no.5 (don't worry, they will get actual names soon)
Stumbling about, the young hatchling had it's head on a swivel, it's somewhat large eyes opening larger in wonder at the view before it. The strange green things flutter down before it, making a unique sound whenever the hatchling stepped on one. The large round thing in the sky, agitating to its eyes yet amazing to the skin, began to go down as the hatchling chased after many strange things. From the creatures with long ears to the other creatures that somehow left the ground when it drew near, the hatchling jumped around till it was tired.
Done having its fun, the hatchling was ready to return home. However, after some time walking, it realized a problem: it was not sure where home was! Panic soon began to set in as not only could the hatchling not see home, but it could not smell it either! The hatchling soon pauses, as a strange smell soon wafts in the air. The small tufts of fur on its back rose slightly as, on instinct, the nose structure puffs out in an attempt of intimidation.
The false bravado soon quickly disappears as from a group of green on the ground, a large, round thing on legs appeared! The thing was taller than the hatchling, with a sickly yellow eye staring right at it. In this situation, it was a no brainer for what to do in this case-RUN! watching the hatchling sprint off, The round thing let out a loud noise that only made it try to run quicker.
