Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Bone Tempering and Muscle Refining

Duan Gujin's expression changed drastically. He wanted to use his Divine Sense to inspect the inside of his body, but after a while, he grew extremely frustrated when he realized he was unable to use Divine Sense to inspect his physical condition because he had no cultivation at all.

"Damn it!"

A myriad of thoughts raced through Duan Gujin's mind, but all he could do was touch his nose and endure it.

15 minutes later, a doctor came in, took his pulse, and then told the middle-aged woman that Duan Gujin was only weak and nothing serious, he just needed to rest well for a few days and he should recover as normal.

The middle-aged woman was very dissatisfied with the doctor's statement, and loudly scolded the doctor to get out.

The doctor sighed, then could only walk away dejectedly.

Duan Gujin frowned slightly and said to the middle-aged woman, "Mother, I'm fine, please don't be harsh on the doctor! I am truly just a little weak! I want to rest properly! With good rest, everything will get better! You don't have to worry about me!"

"Oh, then you rest well!"

Hearing her son saying he wanted to rest well, the middle-aged woman didn't say anything more, her previous actions were just due to excessive concern.

She then dismissed the other maids and instructed several guards to guard the courtyard where Duan Gujin was, not allowing others to disturb him.

Duan Gujin lay down on the bed, closed his eyes, and his mind began to race, as he thought about methods of cultivation.

His memories from the past were not lost, but suddenly recalling a basic Cultivation Heart Method from over a thousand years ago temporarily stumped him.

He pondered for half an hour before finally recalling a piece on Bone Tempering and Muscle Refining.

His memory was incredibly sharp, able to completely reconstruct certain segments from more than a thousand years ago.

As soon as he recalled the Bone Tempering and Muscle Refining text, he hurriedly got up from the bed.

Although it was somewhat inconvenient to move, and every movement caused him severe pain, he still endured it.

15 minutes later, he had written down the complete Bone Tempering and Muscle Refining text on a piece of paper.

"Everything is ready, now I just need some Spiritual Medicine! To cultivate Bone Tempering and Muscle Refining and achieve good effects, some Spiritual Medicines will be necessary. Fortunately, this Bone Tempering and Muscle Refining script is only a basic cultivation method, so logically, the Spiritual Medicines suitable for this level of cultivation should not be hard to obtain!"

Duan Gujin let out a sigh of relief, and just then, sleepiness overcame him, and he fell asleep dressed as he was.

A night passed and he woke up at noon the next day.

After waking up, he felt revitalized, finally having some strength. He breathed out and walked out of his room.

"Young Master!"

Two maids saw the young master approaching and quickly saluted and called out.

Duan Gujin nodded slightly, then dismissed the two maids.

He was not intending to wander around aimlessly, but was slowly adapting to the past world he was now in and clearing up the threads of this world.

"Gujin, how do you feel?"

In that moment, the middle-aged woman swiftly appeared in front of Duan Gujin, startling him.

In the past, the middle-aged woman's speed wouldn't have caught his attention, but now he had become an ordinary mortal, he was truly helpless.

"It's alright, my body is still fine!"

Duan Gujin's eyes flashed as he spoke.

"That's good to hear, you should go back to your room and rest well!" The middle-aged woman's face was filled with concern.

Duan Gujin's brow furrowed slightly and said, "I feel stifled inside, and my body has almost recovered! Mother, I want to buy some Spiritual Medicine, I'm not sure if I can find them, could you help me buy some Spiritual Medicines?"

"Oh, you want to buy Spiritual Medicines? No problem, give me the list of Spiritual Medicines!" the middle-aged woman said.

"Alright, these are the Spiritual Medicines, see if you can find them?" Zhou Qing then took out the list of Spiritual Medicines he had written the previous night.

After taking it, the middle-aged woman looked at it seriously.

A moment later, she frowned deeply and said to Duan Gujin, "Gujin, I can't recognize any of these Spiritual Medicines you've listed! Are you sure you wrote them correctly?"

"You can't recognize them?"

Duan Gujin took the paper filled with the names of Spiritual Medicines and carefully checked it again.

He first made sure there were no mistakes in the writing, then after thinking for a while, he realized he had indeed made a very basic mistake.

"Oh, mother, it's my mistake!"

Duan Gujin quickly took back the paper, he then chatted with the middle-aged woman for a while before he left.

Back in his room, Duan Gujin immediately picked up some books from the bookshelf and began to read each one carefully.

The books were many and varied, containing a mix of Cultivation Heart Methods, and many were related to Alchemy and Artifact Refining.

"Although I have memories of the past, my memories from before and now are quite different, the Spiritual Medicine names I wrote are not wrong, but what I learned in the past is still very different from this world now!"

His mother's words had reminded Duan Gujin, making him realize that the era and world he was currently in were completely different from his past era and world. He could not directly apply the knowledge from the previous world to this one.

Time flowed swiftly like water, swiftly passing by.

Ten days later, Duan Gujin finally mastered the content of all the books in his study, and he gained a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of the world he was in now.

"My body has also mostly recovered! Now I will try to summon my Martial Soul!"

Duan Gujin let out a breath, his mind moved, and he wanted to try releasing his previous Martial Soul.

In the Qiankun Continent, the cultivation realms were divided into Postnatal, Innate, Martial Monarch, Martial Master, and Martial Sect—five levels of cultivation realms.

Above these five cultivation realms, there are even higher levels of cultivation realms.

However, to breakthrough to a higher cultivation realm, one would have to go to other continents.

Each cultivation realm is divided into nine minor levels, each minor level being referred to as a layer.

The division of cultivation levels within the minor levels is actually very simple.

If the First Layer is considered as the number one, then the Second Layer is number two, the Third Layer is number three, and the Ninth Layer is number nine.

And the combat power of a major realm and its adjacent minor realms is reflected as being ten times different.

For example, Postnatal First Layer represents a Martial Artist who has cultivated a Flying Dragon Martial Soul in the soul sea, while Innate First Layer represents a Martial Artist who has cultivated ten Flying Dragon Martial Souls in the soul sea, and Innate Third Layer represents a cultivator who has cultivated thirty Flying Dragon Martial Souls in the soul sea.

Clearly, it is evident how difficult it would be for a Postnatal Ninth Layer Martial Artist to defeat an Innate Third Layer Martial Artist.
